Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don't agree with the judge at the end of the window point. No good team does the majority of their transfer dealings in the last fortnight of the window. We have three league matches and a cup game during August. The recruitment needs to be judged before week 1.

We haven't won a league game in August in 4 years so we have to stop waiting until 3 or 4 matches have been lost before we strengthen the squad. A good start is extremely important this year if we want to see some meaningful improvements.
We should have really had any signings in by now to get to know the team, manager etc so we were ready to go by 18th August.

Think it's completely dead on all fronts really.....

Only real links were Luiz and Mcatee.... both seem to be waiting on / wanting other offers, and can you blame them?

Then the other one it seems everyone is pinning their hopes on is loose links to Kubo and waiting for him to come back off tour in a weeks time. Expect we haven't even discussed anything with him or are still preparing a bid.

When he turns round and says everton who.... then we are in trouble, as there will be 0 back-up.

Isn't that a rather stupid question really?

We all know we are going to sign players, even the manager has said so.

However, apart from idle speculation from some pretending to have inside information no one has a clue who we are trying to sign.... and you ask for an exact answer here.
Not stupid at all...

We all know the longer this drags out, the less likely it is we are going to make any big signings.

In recent years we have always had surprising links which we have always accepted and would love to have gotten, but nowhere near getting them realistically. These were always seen as our A list.... again unrealistic but to appease fans.

As windows dwindle on regardless of the stupid excuses about agents, or clubs getting in replacements blah blah blah, we will end up shopping in the bargain bin as usual and say we tried.

Nothing is going to happen in July and expect any of our business will be done in the 2nd half of August and none of these will generally be classed as big signings and in fact will be squad players, or standard we have signed in the last 3-4 years (argue longer under the previous regime)...

We all know how this goes, and if you want to make big / statement signings these need to be done straight away.

So no, it is not a stupid question as we have all seen this before.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have my head in the sand wishful that we are going to pull 2-3 1st teamers in in the coming weeks... but this is Everton.

I'd rather be ambitious and go for the top of the list players and go into the season a little half cooked, then go and get players of lesser ability just because we might not get the good players

E.g Douglas Luiz, if theres a chance of getting him, the minute he signs, he's in the team, he's been training anyway, so not a problem..............................lets say the back up option is Hackney, id argue he doesn't go straight in the team anyway, so why shoot our load to early?

They did.

They weren't great players but they were physically capable of playing in the premier league and knew the basics of what positions to be in, touch, where not to lose the ball, tracking back etc.

The young lads would be headless chickens completely out of their depth.
Yeah the old 'can't be any worse' argument always falls down here, because people are only basing it on the most basic of metrics and not taking anything more than that into account.

I genuinely dont understand the issue people are having here.

Were not getting relegated and the peoe who are moaning about signings dont think were getting Europe.

So what are people worried about if we get the players in at the start of the window or the end?

Oh, no were going to finish 13th instead of 11th? Who cares!

The team and more importantly the club is in the process of a massive rebuild and we as fans need to he patient for the next two years imo. If that means we have to wait till august 31st to get the players we want then so be it.

I would argue that our midfield options are that bad that anybody we signed at CM should walk into the team.

I agree, we haven't done enough business yet. However, I think we need to judge at the start of the season. That's not saying everything should be done, but our main signings should be. Then loans and squad players be what's coming in.

I realise, that some of the delays can be down to availability. Such as sell club, won't sell until replacement is in etc.
