Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think when the manager says ‘we need to get some elite players’, then it’s fair enough for the fans to expect that there may be some elite players in.
To be fair to Moyes he hadn’t been in the job long and more than likely would have no idea of summer budget and that might have simply been an early pressure play to the owners. Don’t agree with others saying he shouldn’t have said that as it’s raised expectations, I’m glad he said it. We all want Elite signings including him, over to you Friedkins.

It's a huge fortnight for Kinnear in particular. He can point to the new structure not being fully in place for this summer but it's his baby and TFG let him implement it.

I'm hoping we can get a couple in by the end of the month, things will look a lot better then and we have to give them the benefit of the doubt currently.

It's just the time now though where people get antsy, and I think that's justified too. If we're going into August with the bulk of our work still to be done then it's fair to say things have gone wrong.

It would not be a good look for Kinnear in particular.

Thinking of the setup of Pursuit Sports last week, I'm sure Dave Beeston is keeping a watching brief from afar on all of this too.

Perhaps the degree of anxiety is just a function of recent history. We have to hope that things are on track for them and that they are confident in what they are doing.

If we start the season with no new players in the team and end up with Jack Harrison rocking back up, then to be totally honest that would say to me that the current setup don’t have a clue what they’re doing.

We need to be signing better players than
Wesley, Truffert, Fellows and Nuamah if we could have had them in the door in January.

They would be acclimatised to the league by now too. With the rebuild we had we shouldn’t have let January go without buying anyone. I understand why they did it but it looks like the wrong choice.

How do you know we were fine PSR-wise to do all this stuff in Jan?

Basically we need to bring on starters in maybe 4 positions, and around 4-5 squad players, depth or competition as well, it's a huge amount of work and for the second group the quality depends almost on the first in a way.

Don't think many would argue we need a starting centre mid, starting right winger, starting attacking mid and starting right back.

On top of those we'd need another centre mid, another right side player, a second left back. And either another full back/centre back who can develop. Can argue a third striker should be required also.

The squad we have is already super small and that's factoring in players who simply aren't good enough - Patterson, and/or who need loans - Chermiti, Tim and Armstrong.

Right now we can't loan any of those three out or offload Patterson as they are literally first backups - which clearly they aren't ready to be at this level yet.

They are the rumours of the players we had lined up before Moyes changed his mind. We wouldn’t have had deals for them if we couldn’t afford them.

Fellows was £8m so £2m on a 4 year contract. Truffert went to Bournemouth for not much more. Probably talking £20m max

We can’t be using “the rest of the league” as an excuse as to why we aren’t doing anything, we need to bring in more players than those teams because we have 15 senior players. I’m sick of hearing “no one else is doing anything so it’s fine” as an excuse.

How about if players we were after are wanted by their club until a set point in time or actually are weighing up a variety of options.

Players away at the CWC and under 21s if we'd signed them they'd still be on holiday - Barry for example isn't joining up till the USA so in truth we could have signed him in a week and it would have changed nothing over doing it two weeks ago.

Do I want us to go out and say sign Fellows or a Longstaff cos we can do that deal quickly - rather than say get Kubo or Luiz etc. in which may take more time - because the player and club have other offers to consider...

Look at the business done so far. Which deals do you think we should have been all over for those players?

Would hope to see two players in this week and don’t see why that shouldn’t be achievable. Unless we are looking at one position at a time which would be ridiculous. No credible links with a right wing which is slightly concerning. It should be our number one priority followed by full backs. Kubo, Doak or The Road Runner would be fine.
I do think Kubo is the one, but reality is we won't be able to get him before August, no chance Sociedad will sell him whilst they are actually on tour in Japan.

Elliot and Doak both available and neither has any bids on them yet also, rumours Villa are gonna move on Ramsey and obviously a couple at City who look to be moving too.

I'm hoping the wait for this position is because we arent gonna try and siding it like the past seasons and want a mong term fix for it by bringing in quality with potential to improve

I'm sure we will do business, Kinnear I'm happy with the people he's brought in on the staff side to handle things. So far I like all three signings we made - all were needed and all of the right age profile, plus if any truth into the report who are top choices are then that show intent to bring in quality.

Only judgement that matters is when the season starts and how ready we look though.

“WE WANT A RW AND WE WANT IT NOW”

Club does a quick easy deal rather than waiting for their number 1 target which would take a few weeks longer.

Harrison resigns.

“NOT THAT ONE”

…Kubo could also be a clever marketing acquisition, opening up the Asian market with a superstar Japanese footballer playing in such a high-profile league.

Given we now have I think three female players from their and TFGs main business involves Toyota then yeah Kubo makes a lot of sense.

Helps the fact he's exactly the sort of of player we need on the right as well.
