Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

City smell blood in the water with Forest and Spurs having sold key players for huge amounts, they know they can ask for £35m.

We could negotiate a lower deal with higher future return i.e back back fee, sell on percentage, apps fee.

If the player wants Everton, clubs figure these deals out

Decent player no doubt but 35 million seems a tad steep.
At the time I thought £42.5mil for Cole Palmer was way over the top.
I honestly didn't see him getting to the level he is now. Very good prospect at the time though.

Yes its a lot of money but
If McAtee got anywhere near the level Palmer is now we'd all look back and say that was outstanding business.

£25 mill, rising to £30 mill seemed like a lot of money for Jordon Pickford 8 years ago mate, today it feels a bit of a bargain.

If you want quality be prepared to invest in it.
You're not wrong but one player being worth a lot of money doesn't really have any bearing on whether another one is. Pickford was worth it, I dont think McAtee would be

If that little made up journey in your mind transpires why not call BS on the fella who has told you he’s the “number one target” instead? He’s hardly infallible is he? I can also safely assure you he’s never met the Friedkin group or any of the personnel they have put in place.

Hahaha ok mate crack on.

I know that plenty of people rate McAtee but
a) is he what we need ?
b) is he worth an inflated fee ?
c) I know he has played for City , but he would have to become a focal player for us , at that fee , and I feel that there is a massive gap between age restricted internationals , and the premiership
d) where would we play him as I don't think that he is pacy enough to play wide right ?
Watching him in the under21 he looked best floating about in the middle imo. He wouldn't get that freedom under Moyes which is a shame as I think he is a better bet than Alcaraz. I wouldn't fancy him as a wide player, not convinced thats his best role.

David Moyes!!!!!!
Point to the word promised. Or even point to where he says he will get elite players. I’ll be right here on the edge of my seat. He actually says elite players is what he wants, as that is what the new stadium deserves.

I think this is the issue. I don't see McAtee getting anywhere near Palmer level.

Palmer always had moments of individual brilliance in games prior to his Chelsea move (yes largely playing in the city youth teams, but they were there).

I think McAtee looks good in a team with exceptional footballers.

I just don't think we'll see what we expect if we came here. Especially if he gets shunted out to be right sided attacker.

Words have meaning, he didn't have to use the word elite yet he did, so what do people expect?

Honestly 35m is pennies these days for normal clubs.
There's a limited number of ways we do that a) sell a player for big money, b) have CL money c) have a massive uplift in income like happens upon going from EFL to PL or the owner can input a limited amount as per the rules.
The belief we can acquire numerous £30m+ players in one summer is for the birds.
