The thing about waiting for your first choice.. when they inevitably string you along and sign for someone else, you find that your 2nd, 3rd 4th and 5th choice have been snapped up.

It’s a balance.

There has to be a plan to move on to targets further down the list by certain dates if nothing has progressed, if you’re indefinitely hanging on for one player to make a decision then that’s pretty shambolic and says to me that they don’t have a clue what they’re doing.

No. Not at all. My issue has always been that I am unimpressed with Moyes' transfer record since he left us, so am nervous about him being given total control. I don't think he has been given total control with the transfer committee and the players we've brought in thus far are decent additions. I'm also not Moyes' biggest fan, but have acknowledged that he does generally improve players (bar strikers) through actual coaching - something we've not had for a long time. And is too savvy to get embroiled in a relegation scrap.

I think we've been fortunate (others may differ) that Doucoure,Young and Calvert-Lewin have turned down contracts or discussions. So we've been saved from that problem. Characterise me however you want, but we are on a par with what I expected and I think we should be aiming for the top half this season.

If we don't get players in, that would be a different issue.
with you 100%.

It's like ten to two in a nightclub back in the day.

Sometimes a kebab and ring sting is a better option than a Neal Maupay.

Barry and Alcaraz both feel like good business, same with Branthwaite new contract. In all honesty I’d have stuck with Ashley young for another year to cover lb and rb, considering how we are struggling to find a full back- certainly offers more than Coleman on the playing side now.

Just too many areas need sorting out and feel we will inevitably go into the season very light and will be dashing around on deadline day.

For me we need as a minimum another gk, cover for left back, a starting centre midfielder, 2 wingers/attacking 10(one starting right one). Any cash we’d have then we have to just splash in on that RW and cm position.

That’s without thinking that Armstrong and Chermitti will probably leave and leave us light again.

We’re not the only ones. The teams that have made the most moves are the sly 6 or the relegated teams buying players you’ve largely never heard of

Newcastle having their arsed handed to them, Villa signed nobody for first team, palace one lad on a free, Brentford being largely obliterated in terms of outs, same as Forrest

Work to be done but we’re not in the minority

Maybe the standard of the premier league is that high there aren’t loads of players out there that will improve teams?

Even the bottom teams in the league have squads that cost more than top 6 teams in every other league

I agree with a lot of what you're saying - however re: Young I believe the issue was contract length - we'd only give him 1 year and he wanted 2.

And we also have a goalie in. I'd think that unless we get a fabianski as a GK coach (of sorts) we are good enough with what we have.

Still an eff tonne of positions to recruit for, either way.
