Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We operate in a part of the market where we probably buy most players from clubs who accept their best players will leave. If they plan well and don’t have decimated squads, then when we rock up with a reasonable offer, it’s no surprise they are happy to wait to see if anyone bids a couple of million more. We aren’t “currently” attractive enough to get players screaming to their club to sell quickly, and we aren’t rich enough to just offer over the odds to get it done.

Best part of £70m for Ekitike as an example.

As harrowing as it is, it’s really hard to do things quickly. If we try, we will end up with a squad of Harrisons and Garners, and will have to be content with “they work hard.”

I'm not particularly focused on backup / rotation / squad players. I actually agree with others that these players do become more available as the window goes on -- other players make signings so certain players are then available on loan.

However, a Right Winger is critical. Even just so the 11 are balanced during these preseason games.

We all saw how isolated Patterson was yesterday.

We need a new right hand side and to go to the US without at least 1 of those 2 is bewildering.

How to integrate a new right hand side with so little time?

Heres the thing. If we wanted this player, we could have gotten him 1st July.

Same like the Fellows links (in a way) if we want him now, we could have got him in January.

There must be a reason behind all this waiting...

...surely?
It’ll be like buying a house, you’re in a chain as the selling party needs to buy and the estate agents is hoping someone else will offer more money to gazump you and your mortgage approval has only just gone through because your credit rating has been abysmal.

He'll have no idea what any of that means

Exactly. We’re competing with everyone else in a similar position. We try to sweeten the deal with the stadium but we’re lumped together until we’re more successful. The top clubs in the world immediately bought up all the best players with the cash they had in their pocket and didn’t bat an eye.

Can you explain this in words that someone who still lives in his ma’s basement will understand?

Thanks in advance.

Dwight McNeil anywhere else than on the left side of the pitch isn’t very helpful. He projects that he clearly wants to get to the left side of the pitch or force the ball onto his left foot. I think he’ll struggle to find minutes again as a starter.
