Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I'm not saying otherwise. All i am saying is that "so far" this window has been a failure in my eyes.

Backup keeper £4mil
Loan players clause triggered £12mil
Rotation forward £27.5mil++

I think on the 20th of July we can consider this to have been at best massively underwhelming and ineffective.

Then the squad was decimated and multiple positions needed strengthening.

Which is clearly different to Roma.

What fee did Bayern go up to? Wasnt it €40mil+ Stuttgart wanted after the tournament lol

Ive not said this.

Not sure why you 'always' seem to misinterpret posts for a wind up or cheap insult.

Its quite clear that 2 players (McGinn & Luiz) have been enquired about.

We should be enquiring for many others...for each position.

If we are, where are the signings?

Depends if you believe the 'apparent' tier 1 sources. E.g Percy, Bobble and Joyce etc.
I'm starting to get worried for similar reasons.

At least 6 more players need to be brought in including a starting right winger and centre mid.

Vert frustrating if the club allows 3-4 league games to be played before sorting out the squad by the end of August as it shouldn't be that way this season.

The USA tour would be a good opportunity to sign the promising Orlando FC right back Alex Freeman.

He won’t be expensive as he is just 20. He is 6’2” which helps our overall squad profile, decent speed and pretty composed for a young player meaning he is already a regular in the national squad. His size means he could also be developed to provide extra CB cover. He also has strong sporting genes as he is the son of former NFL All Pro and SuperBowl winning WR Antonio Freeman.

He could develop behind O’Brien for a season if needed before taking over and let us recoup what we can for Patterson. He’d be an asset for our US marketing which also matters.

We should be taking some punts like this IMO, at the risk of coming across as a Zat fan-boy 😉

While it’s unfair and foolish to judge a transfer window until its conclusion, it is intriguing to compare the briskness with which the woman’s team have acquired several quality players to the satisfaction of their manager.

I’m starting to get a little concerned, too, with so many positions unfilled. Who really knows about Luiz.

We’re going to have to stop looking left and right at other league’s top flights and start looking down to the Championship. Time isn’t on our side and neither is money.

I'm confused with the logic of some posters on here when they say we haven't improved the squad, when we have signed a potential new no.1 striker and signed our starting CAM aswell, yes we need to more but surely those two additions improve our options as it stands?
I think it’s debatable to be fair. I wouldn’t really class Alcaraz as improving the squad personally because he was already here. He also wasn’t actually our starter in that role and while some of us might be happy to see the back of doucoure it’s probably fair to say moyes isn’t, seeing as he kept picking him and offered him a new contract. Hopefully Barry will be the real deal but it’s hard to say with any certainty. In short, you’d hope the business we’ve done so far is good, but you’d be hard pressed to say we’ve clearly improved.

Is every post an essay?

I'm not particularly focused on backup / rotation / squad players. I actually agree with others that these players do become more available as the window goes on -- other players make signings so certain players are then available on loan.

However, a Right Winger is critical. Even just so the 11 are balanced during these preseason games.

We all saw how isolated Patterson was yesterday.

We need a new right hand side and to go to the US without at least 1 of those 2 is bewildering.

How to integrate a new right hand side with so little time?

Heres the thing. If we wanted this player, we could have gotten him 1st July.

Same like the Fellows links (in a way) if we want him now, we could have got him in January.

There must be a reason behind all this waiting...

...surely?

If we’ve improved the squad then presumably you would expect it to finish higher than it did last season, without any further additions.

Which it clearly wouldn’t. Hope that helps your confusion.
