Not everyone has a squad of 15 senior players to pick from. It’s a rubbish excuse. As is throwing in hypothetical crap players who we could’ve signed, it’s meaningless waffle.

We need players. We are totally unprepared to start the season.
But that need for players doesn’t mean signing crap like longstaff and Harrison just to hit evertonians arbitrary timeframes on what makes a window a success.

We can field a team tomorrow that Moyes had top 8 on form minus doucoure and Harrison. It’s not bed wetting time just yet

I'd find it hard to accept that we couldn't find players who would both improve us, and want to play for us, too. They might not be your first choices, but wouldn't it be naive to be going into this thinking otherwise?

They can't wait until the final week of August for this realisation to hit home. If we're being brushed off by the likes of Luiz and McAtee, then it's time - now - to actively pursue alternatives. That's just basic planning and organisation, surely.

Spanish sides are legally bound to have a player buyout clause.

Its common knowledge the buyouts are almost always way over the players value.

Villareal are supposedly happy with the fee, its more than hes currently worth. It may become a bargain -- but to use it as a barometer for success is misguided imo.
Merely an example of us prioritising value over timeframe

This is no clear plan or organisation…

It is a pure shambles so far.

People clearly content with going with what we have got and picking up some bargain basement deals at the end of the window.

I never said that, that was you that said that! You just made up something hypothetical to justify us doing nothing at all.

Being able to “field a team” is great if you’re banking on no injuries and the players turning into robots and being able to churn out 100 minutes every single week. You can continue to dress it up as much as you want, this squad is not fit for purpose to start the season. It isn’t even fit for pre season, because we’re about to play 3 games against Premier League teams where we’ll likely get humiliated due to having to field loads of youngsters. I’m not sure that will help entice new signings either.
