TeteDelap aside, I can’t think of a player we’ve been linked with by a credible source who we’ve missed out on yet.
It’s simple really. Whilst your 1st choice targets are in play, you do what you can to get them, whilst keeping in contact with your 2nd choice targets.
It’s a bit annoying that we haven’t done more by now, but few teams aside from those at the top and [expected] bottom of the league have. I’d rather have the work still to do than be Leeds [who look to be buying a lot of fairly average players], Brentford [who are losing their best players] or Newcastle [who look to have lost out on 3-4 of their top, long standing targets already] right now.
I don’t think we are in for ‘top’ players and I think we should avoid paying more than what we deem value for any player - we managed to trim £7.5m off Barry’s price taking that approach. Cost us a week.
This team knows how Moyes plays so not like they need to try stuff out against accy and Blackburn. Pre season is about fitness only. We’ve all seen enough of them to know form rarely translates into the league campaign
Tell me why it doesn’t despite all the evidence otherwise?
We can all call it a failure, so far.
Its not been a success has it?
YaaaaaaaaaaawnYou can see a plan? You have to be kidding lol
McAtee? A coup?
Sigh...
Yes its clear really
Moyes chooses player.
Hammond negotiates
Kinnear signs off
= Failure of a window so far.
It has been a failure so far. Not sure how it could be argued otherwise?
Weve not improved the 11.
Weve not brought in the numbers.
2 areas of failure.
Clue: Moyes is ALWAYS in charge.
I think most people wouldn’t consider labelling it either just at present.
There will be new players in, there has to be. Let’s consider whether it’s been a success or failure once we see the end result.
It’s clear that only the clubs with deep pockets and benefit from PSR protection are the ones spending big at the moment - all others having to box clever. Can you give any reasoning to back up why it does?
Serious clubs don’t do their key business in the last few weeks of the window. Feel free to provide examples of anyone that has done in the last few years.
So nobody wants to join us? That’s the excuse?
If it’s that clear then why aren’t more selling them? Not like our reported targets are flying off the shelves is itSpanish sides are legally bound to have a player buyout clause.
Its common knowledge the buyouts are almost always way over the players value.
Villareal are supposedly happy with the fee, its more than hes currently worth. It may become a bargain -- but to use it as a barometer for success is misguided imo.
Do you think if we received an acceptable bid for a player on the 1st day of the window...we would be more likely to accept, than on the last day of the window?
I think its clear teams will all want to sell players quickly to give them time to sign replacements.
So nobody wants to join us? That’s the excuse?

We could have brought in Longstaff and Harrison by now - would that have appeased you?
