Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Hammond negotiates the deals once Moyes et al sign off on making an offer. Kinnear has final approval on the financials of a deal. Two of the new four don’t join until September so this window is a first step on the path to how they want things to run in the future with Kinnear, Hammond, Moyes trying to build a functioning process with limited preparation. Some teething troubles are to be expected.

However, they know the task is to have a competitive 20 for match day one and a deep enough squad to cope with a season including a disruptive AFCON by the end of the window. They have to deliver against both targets. No excuses if tyey don’t. IF.

Which other teams have a squad of 15 players? I’ll keep asking this until someone answers it btw.
Nobody that I am aware of.
However our circumstances were pretty unique due to years of mismanagement.
Plenty of under achieving players on bloated salaries , that we paid too much for , and / or no resale value.
Contracts running out , so were free to go.
As they weren't achieving much it was in both parties interests.
We need to keep a steady hand on the tiller , and not repeat the mistakes of the past , and therefore I am cutting Moyes and the new "management team" some slack over not rushing into panic buys. Hopefully our patience will reap dividends in seasons to come. The worst scenario would be to rinse and repeat the mistakes of the past and rush into getting the wrong players just because they are immediately available , and willing to come here.

Has it been said that it is moyes causing us to be slow in talks for players, like the barry deal was about us not wanting to pay the full amount was not on moyes.
We all know and you should to, that Moyes like to go over every fine detail before signing a player, young players maybe slightly different, because Moyes will have them on the bench for a season or so. Bring in players for the first team is a different story. And so far we haven’t signed one this summer and need at least 3, I’d say 4.

We’re 4 weeks from the first game

I think a lot of fans including myself are confident we will get who we need, we all want the players now.

What i dont want is for us to sign players we can get now, players that might be number 4 on the list or not even on it at all.
From the rumour mill this summer, would you be happy with Fellows Coufal Soucek already signed or would you rather wait to see if we can get better?
This is what I’m talking about though, that’s not a valid question because it’s heavily weighted in one direction (waiting will end well, acting now won’t) when there’s no real evidence to support that idea. You might as well say ‘would you rather we start the season with Pickford in goal and lose or tyrer in goal and win’, obviously I choose the option with the positive outcome, but there’s no reason to believe the positive outcome is linked to the options I’ve been given.

The closer we get to deadline day the far more likely we are to end up signing Coufal and Soucek for £10m over his value. I don’t understand where this idea that our top targets will become available later in the window has come from, when has it ever worked out like that before? It just seems like pure cope to be honest.

To be fair wed all be wingening and moaning on a football forum on a Sunday morning about something else Everton related if the window was closed mate.

Its a bit of a moot argument, peoples reactions are going to be different, like most things in life.

I think its ok to reality test it from time to time.

A lot of things can be true at the same time:

We made three very promising signings to be happy about and we need more and the season starts in a few weeks - slow starts and late signings have undermined our seasons in recent years.

We've made a significant investment already VS we need to spend big to get quality players in.

We started with about 11 odd in contract and now we are up to 20 but we need to do more.

Im going to annoy you, because im very interested in the window but im not concerned about it, i dont see why i should be to be honest, - i dont think there is a chance in the world that we dont have a squad of 25 players + come the end of Aug. 100%. Ive seen nothing in what we have done or are trying to do to think otherwise.

Others will think differently, as you say Everton have done a number on us for years and people will have anxiety and stress of the unknown because of that and seek urgent action to reduce anxiety, that's fine to.

Its when either side of the Zen or panic - becomes overbearing or condescending people get pissed off.
Exactly. People saying the window has been a total disaster and we should all be in major panic mode and people saying everything will be fine it’s going to be a great window we’ll definitely get everything we need are just 2 sides of the same coin. The truth is it could go either way, and people are quite within their rights to be saying they think we’ve been a bit slow off the mark and might not do what we need to do. Obviously they may turn out to be wrong, but it’s a football forum in summer, it goes with the territory.
