Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

So we’ve got a better backup keeper if Pickford gets crocked. That is obviously a good thing, but it’s only strengthening the team in the incredibly unlikely event that Pickford gets crocked. Barry may be an improvement on DCL, but we don’t actually know that yet as none of us have seen him kick a ball. He also isn’t likely to start the season ahead of Beto in the pecking order. So on the 20th July we can’t really say we’ve strengthened the starting XI that finished last season, and the squad overall you could argue is weaker as we have absolutely nobody to come off the bench.

We've not strengthened the 11 at all.

Of course we could have signed more players by now, but would they be the ones we really wanted?

I can remember under Koeman where we were getting a signing nearly every day but only a few were a success.

Clubs will not just lie down and sell us their best players, we can't afford to throw inflated bids at them

We have to accept we will be active right up to the end of the window and by then hopefully we will have a stronger squad for the remainder of the season.

This is a season of transition for us.
The first of a few to build a winning team.

You're making excuses for Moyes.

I wont make this about Thelwell, as there's no need to though i'd be confident he'd have players in the door now with his first transfer budget.

We can see with Moyes the total lack of impetus to attack the market. There is an entire world of players to target.

How can we be at July 20th and not signed a single player to impact the first 11 or even any top potential u21s to develop?

Its a failure so far.

It's ok man we've still got Mr Everton Seamus Coleman on the books. He'll play more games for Ireland than he will Everton this season, despite us being the ones paying him another £3 million.

That alone is disgusting and when you add Michael Keane its a disgrace.

I’m also not swallowing a party line of “we couldn’t get our number 1 targets over the line and there was nobody else in world football we could find that we thought was good enough to bring in instead”, just getting that one in early.

Getting worried the Friedkin's are more interested in flipping the stadium in a few years and content to have us tick over with minimal outlay.
Time is ticking a marquee signing would quell the fears maybe, but as it stands one of the biggest days in our history next month we'll have the same old odds and sods journeymen players running out v Brighton.

Pickford

O’Brien
Tarkowski
Branthwaite
Mykolenko

McNeil
Gana
Garner
Ndiaye

Alcaraz
Beto

Is the line up for Leeds. Bench full of random kids, Keane and Barry. Happy for this to be vaulted.

They’ve already spent more money than we have in years and we’re less than halfway through the transfer window.

If Kubo is the right wing target nothing can happen until after their tour of Japan next week as he is headlining all the marketing. If he isn’t maybe something will surface before we fly out to USA. As always most rumours are just that, rumours. Hopefully the Pickford extension talk is true. Tying him and Branthwaite on longer deals would be solid squad maintenance. As with houses doing maintenance on what you have is not as exciting as buying a new one but it is every bit as important.

Wouldn’t surprise you with Moyes, not throwing in new signings straight away. One thing I would say, if that’s the starting 11, then he need to drop someone for Harrison Armstrong

We’ve got to build a squad for the season and for the future, not just for the tour of America or even for the first game of the season.

If that means holding out for players that are in our budget, will consider us and will improve us then that’s what needs to happen.

Who have you seen move so far to other teams that fit that bracket ?

Which other teams have a squad of 15 players? I’ll keep asking this until someone answers it btw.

Friedkins don't flip businesses...do some research on their businesses and philosophy and you'll find you're worrying about absolutely nothing and buying into this weird theory some Blues espouse.

…this regime inherited such a mess, I’m fully expecting them to use the full window to bring players in. They are handling it correctly.
