Barry,Travers...so far.

So we’ve got a better backup keeper if Pickford gets crocked. That is obviously a good thing, but it’s only strengthening the team in the incredibly unlikely event that Pickford gets crocked. Barry may be an improvement on DCL, but we don’t actually know that yet as none of us have seen him kick a ball. He also isn’t likely to start the season ahead of Beto in the pecking order. So on the 20th July we can’t really say we’ve strengthened the starting XI that finished last season, and the squad overall you could argue is weaker as we have absolutely nobody to come off the bench.

Of course we could have signed more players by now, but would they be the ones we really wanted?

I can remember under Koeman where we were getting a signing nearly every day but only a few were a success.

Clubs will not just lie down and sell us their best players, we can't afford to throw inflated bids at them

We have to accept we will be active right up to the end of the window and by then hopefully we will have a stronger squad for the remainder of the season.

This is a season of transition for us.
The first of a few to build a winning team.

I'd imagine Cole palmer's stats in those areas for man c were likely better too, which made the Chelsea transfer a lot less risky than say mcatee's.

do we wanna pay the English premium or can our scouts give us better value European or South American targets

strangely apart from Luiz and mcatee, there doesn't seem to be many midfielders esp the creative sorts linked to us.
I got pretty excited about the Hackney and Jashari links. Those feel exactly like the young passing midfielders that would be a great fit for us now with the potential to get better.
Is that for City ?

Tbh I've watched him more playing for England.
Both City and Sheffield on there. He's a weird one for me because almost all of his senior minutes have been either on a generationally awful team which makes most players look bad, or coming on as a sub for City which will massively inflate what a player does. You have to have a truly elite eye-test scout to figure out how good he really is probably!

If he can actually kick a ball in the net with only the keeper to beat … he’s light years ahead of DCL
