Well it was actually 82 in 3 seasons, seeing as he was only at West Ham for 3 seasons. He was headed in to the final year of his contract and they transfer listed him, after Moyes' departure. It backfired on them and they had to loan him to Saudi before losing him for free this summer. He played over 2, 800 league minutes in Moyes last season and was made captain.
£35 million is not massive money, it's less than 50% of what we would want for Branthwaite. Why you going on about how many games he's played and comparing his not too shabby stats with the lad who very nearly broke a league record with his 109 in 3 years? Zouma has made over 200 premier league appearances and over 400 senior appearances by the age of 30. Are you suggesting Moyes signed a crock or something?

Garnering interest would generally be a call to his agent saying ‘would he be interested?’. The manager meeting a player would usually be something you do to convince him you really want him and he should choose you over other clubs. Meeting a player we’re not bidding for does sound like a pretty odd move.
