Better than Jake at RB still?

He’s finished in reality.

I’d play Jake there every time over an over the hill Coleman.

5 years ago maybe not. And I know Jake is really a CB before you tell me that startling fact.
O'Brien is solid but cant get up and down the pitch as an effective part of the attack. Set pieces, yes. Open play, no.

As Kenny Rogers used to sing "You gotta know when to hold 'em." It likely fits the ethos of the Texan Friedkins too.

They will either produce the goods in the next fortnight or so, and receive much praise for their cunning, or it will largely diffuse into something of the "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" variety.

This is the only thing I like about transfer windows - they have a defined beginning and end.

You have to put your cards on the table eventually. And soon we'll see the hand they have.

I'll stop there. Too many images of dagger looks, stetsons, cigarette smoke, and swinging saloon doors.
Yup, the window is an acid test. Excuses don't cut it. You are exposed, stripped naked by events and actions - or lack thereof.

We will know all we need to know about the Friedkins by the end of August.

It's like the Swedish women the other night. They were obviously a better side than England, but they didn't have England's courage or grit. And they definitely didn't have the nerve to prove their superiority. So they were rightly found out. The England girls likely will in the final too, should they reach it, but their ceiling proved to be higher than the Swedes' in the end. Top-level sport is a similar acid test. No place to hide.

This pointless diversion is brought to you by having too much time on my hands. You're very welcome.

The first game is still 30 days away.

Alcaraz in already which was expected and good to tie up a first choice striker by mid July so Barry will be getting all the pre season games to adapt.

Bit worried by the right hand side. Of course J O'B can just start the season at RB but I'd rather he gets a run centrally alongside Branthwaite at some point this season. Is Tarks back in training yet as there was some doubt he'd make pre season after surgery from the injury he got v Man. City?

Right wing remains an issue but when has it not been in last few years?! I'm guessing for today at Blackburn it will either be Dwight on the right and Ndiaye left or Garner will play right, Dwight left and then Ndiaye just off the CF.

Haven't got enough outfield players to fill a 20 man squad currently so I'd say another five signings are needed, three first choice and then another two as development signings.

I trust Moyes to dig out results and keep the club competitive in mid table but going to be same as last few years and hoping there isn't an injury crisis that wipes out 3-4 regulars at the same time. Usually were o.k in that regard under Dyche until his last few months.

His cameo appearances still underlined his ability.

He's - sadly - just not getting enough time on the pitch now.
I agree when he on the pitch he is tremendous - City away as an example - we should have made him do his coaching badges & give him a coaching role - if he is good on matchday have him in the dressing room by all means ....

I mean even though we finished the season well, it wasnt like we were playing decent football for the most part. You could say that was on Moyes, and maybe so, but some more attacking quality is surely required.

Hard to answer until we see who actually does arrive.

No real movement on a good few players who are widely known to be available who were involved in the under 21 tournament, Kubo who we've been linked with won't be available until after sociedad finish their Japan tour etc... players unless it's a silly wages offer or top top club aren't in any rush to move at the first bit of interest and clubs similarly aren't gonna be taking low amounts on an enquiry.

Until the season starts can't judge it
