Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

See, I figured the same based on his Everton record until a West Ham fan come on here and told us he spent half a billion there.

I looked at the likes of Bowen an thought he'd spent well there. Turns out he spent £500m at West Ham and from the top 20 below - there's 2, Bowen/Kudus I'd want.

So let's not act as though he's a messiah and can't be scrutinised.

I get after years of misery, wanting to find optimism more than most this pre-season, but there's too much, almost blinkered Man Utd/INEOS type energy in this forum lately.
That 500 mil turned them from relegation fodder into top half finishers and European cup winners.

That's seem pretty good in this day an age especially considering what happened to us when we spent half a billion.

My issues with the majority of Moyes detractors is they're predominantly people still hung up on the fact he went to United started putting bids for our players.

All these years late people STILL can't let go.

Also i can't believe the brass neck of any West Ham fan criticising Moyes...They've done absolutely nothing of note since winning the WC for England in 1966,as they like to tell everyone.

I thought it was pretty well documented they had too many chefs at West Ham on the transfer side like when we had Koeman Moshiri Kenwright and Walsh all buying their favourite number ten

I can see Moyes buying zouma, Bowen, Soucek, Ings, Alvarez and taking a punt on Phillips for example which apart for Phillips were decent to great signings but I can’t see Moyes buying scamacca or ward prouse for example

I like it. If Thierno Barry is great, we'll say it's Moyes. If not, we'll blame someone in recruitment.

Agree entirely mate

That’s just bull, I listed to a podcast with a West Ham journalist, who said they didn’t see eye to eye, the dof wanted mainly younger players, Moyes wanted older players and prem experience was also a big thing to Moyes.
Ward prowe 30mi, vlasic 30, zouma 35, another CB who cost 30 and was like on loan 12 months later. 45 Haller, 35, scammaca. To name a few, he spent about 500mil and wasted 300 of it

Vlasic, Haller and Scamacca all around 24 when they signed for West Ham. Hardly old

No, not at all
I don’t think Moyes was coming back here with the amount of risk and uncertainty at the time without knowing he had final say on transfers like he did when he was here previously

I’m just saying I’d judge his transfer record more on his time here than at West Ham or United or anywhere else because he definitely ran the footballing side of the club here

We wouldn’t have spent a wedge on Barry if Moyes didn’t want him but I think West Ham did spend loads on players and tell him to make it work

Covid break saved their bacon - they were toast.

When West Ham fans wanted him gone - I appreciated the job he did there. See here.

But calm down, he won the modern intertoto cup mate and left them finishing 4 points above point deduction Sean Dyche's Everton.

I don't think that issue exists personally.

We're naturally going to judge his record from that time, as I did. I'd often say he'd be a great DOF, until West Ham fans waded in on here with his record there.

Moyes banned DOF from West Ham's training ground, he's not the type of passive manager, like Lampard - there's no way he allows big transfers at West Ham without his approval.

I think the records show he recruits well if given time and full autonomy.

He had that once at Everton from 2002.

Football has changed a lot in those 11 years though.

Yeah I'd be extremely cautious judging transfer records of individuals over a decade ago. I think the single thing that has changed the most in football since then is the player recruitment process.

Totally agree also - people seem to forget our beloved Howard selling Lineker to Barca when he thought he was in line for the job and then they rug pulled him......

Come on gaffer lets not be dismissive about him winning a European trophy, beating a team that put us to the sword at Goodison all them years ago.

Their drop off in the league was purely down them focusing on Europe whilst having nothing to play for domestically,it's a natural reaction.

I personally believe it does exist...I've seen it on here in the weeks after his return, people still trotting out the United garbage.
