Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Alcaraz dragged on and we paid the clause anyway. Barry is a rotation and Travers is a backup player.

We haven't signed a single player to strengthen the first 11.

I think that is very poor indeed.

Don't think we did pay the clause for Alcaraz. Saw an article posted on here Suggested it was under £10m total fee and I could have sworn it was around £12m to £15m quoted for the clause last season.

Him and Piennar were fantastic together on the left hand side as I remember, in fact it was quite possibly the strongest part of the Moyes team.

In most games absolutely, it could tear apart a bottom half team at home. There’s a reason we never won away at the top 4 sides though. We tried to out play them with players like Pienaar Osman Arteta Baines whilst those sides were much too physical and quick for us. Chelsea and Liverpool in particular just used to bully us. We need to be able to vary the way we play and if you only have small one paced playmakers in midfield you can only play one way. We need strength and mobility in midfield and pace in attack if we want to win away from home regularly in the PL. it’s not a surprise to me that Moyes’s away record last season was very good as we just played on the counter using Alcaraz and Beto and got some very good results doing that. Not every team needs to be walked through with beat interplay. I’m hoping that’s a sign of Moyes adapting a bit more this time round.

Barry didn’t leave CL football with Villarreal to sit on the bench.

We also didn’t part with 30 mill for a backup striker to Beto.

As soon as he’s acclimatised to the PL he’ll he starting in my opinion unless Beto is on such a goal scoring streak that he can’t be left out

Definitely a change in approach. I know we lost at the pit etc but in the other games that mattered we had a swagger at times that just wasn't there in previous seasons. Didn't always pay off in other games and we were not always easy on the eye but had a solid base to work from.
