If that’s the case it’s quite clear why we’re not making much progress then as we’re waiting to see which of the many clubs interested McAtee chooses.

If last seasons changes are to be replicated, ndiaye came in far narrower allowing for overlapping left full back. That gave more of a goal threat from ndiaye and maybe he wants the same for the right. Mcatee might provide that more than touchline hugging pacey winger?
However you need the correct right back for that scenario.

On first reading, it sounded like they'd just found an extra £50m down the sofa with the 'newly emboldened plans."

Delaney is a good source though so there is at least some promise in this, whatever the final amount that will be spent.

All of us understand caution so if they're keeping their powder dry it's fine but they do need to be more active very soon.
