Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

If a team doesn't have a replacement arranged they're more reticent to sell or if various teams are vying for a target at the same time it's not until a team is able to make progress with the club and the player before it can occur

Everyone else seems to be making signings without clubs stalling them to find their replacement. Even we did it with Barry. It’s not an excuse. We have a squad of 15 useable players.

I think your missing my point mate.

Lets say Kubo for instance, we may have some sort of agreement that he will come but not until his club find a replacement, do we wait?

Lets say Kubo is 1st choice and Gnonto is 2nd for arguments sake and we know we can get both.

Would you wait for Kubo in 4 weeks time or get Gnonto now?

We don’t know if that’s the case though.

It may be we haven’t got our targets lined up because of late internal appointments. It may be we are haggling over wages or fees. It may be we are waiting to see how the market pans out and what agents come to us with..

We don’t know. The closer we get to deadline day though, the more likely a Jack Harrison desperation signing becomes.

Why would we have to wait? It’s important to state the potential reasons that could cause this scenario to occur.

When have we ever signed a priority target late in a window?

We have gone for the wait approach so many times in past and been burned and end up signing our 4th choice on deadline day in a flat panic
We have gone for the all in approach before that set us back nearly a decade.

Our targets might be only be available to us when the selling club has found their replacement.
We may get our fingers burnt waiting but it could work the other way also.

We all want players in now but this is new ownership now and i trust them to get it right more than the last regime.
