Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

One month to kick off lads.

Why do people seem to think we have no players who can compete in those first few games?

Of the players who played in our last 3 games of the season (which we won, 2 of them tricky away games), realistically we have only lost 2 starters in doucoure and Harrison. Who were both garbage.

And Doucs didn’t start vs Newcastle, Alcaraz did. Meaning he has already been replaced.

It’s also looking as if we have both branthwaite and Tarks back for the start of the season meaning JOB starts rb. So our back 5 (what, the 4th best defence in the league?) will start.
We can compete, people are just hoping that we'll add more quality to make us better, it's not that surprising surely?

We know we had a decent run for a while and yes it would be great if that happened again at the start of the season, but it's not a given. We can keep harking back to beating Newcastle as if that's somehow definitive evidence of something (and god knows some people do) but we can also say this is a side that only won 1 game between 1st Feb and 12th April, that failed to win at home during the run in to 4 of the 7 teams that finished below them, that only kept 1 clean sheet in a run of 13 games etc.

We're a PL team, of course we can compete in individual games - even Southampton could do that - but people are just hoping for a bit more than that, that's all.

We have no right side whatsoever right now... expect we will end up seeing JOB at right back again. Gana and Garner in the midfield (latter nowhere near good enough).

You know as well as I do with everton we will get knocks during pre-season and we are 1-2 injuries away from not being able to have a full squad and end up with 3 keepers on the bench!

We need to strengthen a long time before our 1st game and we can never do it.... why not? Seems 90% of the teams in the league are able to, but the Everton purchasing process is just unbelievably poor.

Same year after year
Yes we need a RW. We all know that. I’d be very surprised if we don’t have one in by the time we go to the US.

But all this doom and gloom acting like we have no players who know how to play football is just ridiculous.

You are worrying about things that haven’t and may never happen such as injuries.

You say this players like Garner aren’t good enough, but clearly he was good enough to contribute to us getting 31 points in half a season for Moyes.

Also, 90% of teams have strengthened already? Have they?

Arsenal, Brighton, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, man United, Newcastle and spurs have. (The teams with endless cash).

All the others have just been replacing players that the above teams have taken from them (which would suggest they are worse players therefore they anre weaker otherwise the above teams would have got them instead).

We have kept our best players while the majority of the league have lost theirs.

We'll be trying for a certain calibre of player, who'll have better options/certainly in no rush to join point deduction FC circus.

I'm sure it doesn't help by us deciding to lash Thelwell/Purdy etc, and bring in a load of new recruitment faces, who were all also in no hurry to join.

Moyes has also notoriously never been in a hurry to make transfers.

All that said, I'm still disappointed by the lack of progress so far - as I'm sure the club is.

WelL obviously, it’s just pointless crying about non existant injuries and acting like we can’t compete and are just throwing those points away when we know we can compete because we still have those same players.

I'm surprised we didn't try and get them to stay on till the end of the window like lots of clubs do.

The only thing for me was this insistence to wait till the end of the season to start contract negotiations.

It may have had absolutely no bearing on the our current transfers situation, but i felt nipping all that in the bud when we got safe would have allowed us to focus our energies elsewhere.
