To an extent, we probably are in for a lot of the same players. A lot of moves are driven by agents, and clubs at the same sort of level will have the same players being pushed. Obviously it's not always going to be the case that the clubs are properly fighting over the same player, but I would imagine it's often the case that the likes of us and West Ham (and previously Villa and Newcastle) are aware of and interested in the same pool of players.
 
Hate this let's judge come 1st September.... why can we never do things before? 1 month now till our first game of the season, and as far as I can see we have no reliable links to any new additions.

God I hope I am wrong as those 1st 3 games in August are massive for us and we cannot just go throwing valuable points away because we weren't able to form a decent enough squad.

Let's say we do our business (as always) end of August. Then our next 3 games in September are Villa, Liverpool, Wham.

I would much rather go with a good strong team for Leeds, Brighton and Wolves to start the season with a bang!

But no it's the Everton way...

Why do people seem to think we have no players who can compete in those first few games?

Of the players who played in our last 3 games of the season (which we won, 2 of them tricky away games), realistically we have only lost 2 starters in doucoure and Harrison. Who were both garbage.

And Doucs didn’t start vs Newcastle, Alcaraz did. Meaning he has already been replaced.

It’s also looking as if we have both branthwaite and Tarks back for the start of the season meaning JOB starts rb. So our back 5 (what, the 4th best defence in the league?) will start.

We had around the 6th/7th best record in the League last season after Moyes came in. We need more players in and we’ll get them in at some point but no reason we can’t do well in the opening games even with the squad we currently have as long as we don’t get injuries before the season starts.

We have no right side whatsoever right now... expect we will end up seeing JOB at right back again. Gana and Garner in the midfield (latter nowhere near good enough).

You know as well as I do with everton we will get knocks during pre-season and we are 1-2 injuries away from not being able to have a full squad and end up with 3 keepers on the bench!

We need to strengthen a long time before our 1st game and we can never do it.... why not? Seems 90% of the teams in the league are able to, but the Everton purchasing process is just unbelievably poor.

Loads of time yet, I’d rather they took a methodical approach to such a big rebuild than rushing out to get names and appease fans. We’ve done that before and it put us in this position we find now years later mate. One more to kick off.
