Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Wouldn't care as much if it was free but think it's audacious they charge you for "journalism".
Well, this is it. What does it provide that justifies a subscription? Honestly, nothing to me, anyway. I'm old-school (and old, 53). Brian Glanville is my idea of a football journalist. I did a stint at Goal.com in the noughties looking after their German football pages. I argued that they should be publishing opinion pieces. Instead, they wanted me to regurgitate the latest headline from Kicker. I'm not sure things are much better at even paid-for sites like the Athletic with well-known writers.

How much great football insight did we see from journalists when Everton was on the brink over the last four years? Very little. And less that required a sub. These "beat" reporters are in the pocket of the club because their sources are at the club. They are like embedded reporters in a war zone - compromised by definition.

Each to their own, but I get little to nothing from the likes of the Athletic. I bought World Soccer for 25 years - but even that died a slow death after Keir Radnedge - a proper journalist - gave up editorial control.

You'd get more insight on here.

I use it for work a fair amount, just to get me started more than anything. I find beginning a deck or whatnot one of the hardest things to do.

It's going to turn us all into gibbering idiots.
It can work well as a soundboard to bounce stuff off, trying to get it to produce anything creative though and such I still think it fails badly at.

But yeah eventually it'll be who writes the best prompts over who can genuinely write.

Unless it catches itself in an infinity loop like the art generators are in danger of doing, they use available online images for reference and there's now so much ai generated stuff online that's it's now using AI images more and more to create AI images so starting to look more fake that it did

Interesting that we went for Wesley in Jan, more interesting is that with that and Alcaraz, we were active in the South American market probably more then ever.

When you say "we" I think you mean 'Thelwell'.

Obviously he was behind Alcaraz and I'd like to assume if he had stayed we'd be after Wesley (again), same club of course, Flamengo.

Reading between the lines, was Wesley one of those Moyes torpedoed in January (prior to brazil caps and global recognition)?

So far this window appears to me a total mess. There has to be players in before the US trip surely...

...3 signings:

Back up keeper
Attacking mid from last season
Rotation centre forward

Doesnt matter how this is dressed up, its very, very poor in my view.

Its seriously like 2 pounds a month for a subscription to ensure journalists get compensated for their work and don't have to do crappy click bait hack journalism to make a living

Think very very poor abit to far would say under average at this moment and that is only because have atleast bought the striker in. But agree 100% need to see movement in key areas esp out wide. I did think becuase barry was a deal they started to try do early we would hear more winger talks coming out

I'll be honest mate - if anyone was expecting 6+ players in before we headed off to the states then you're all living in cloud cuckoo land..

September 1st is always the barometer, regardless of the fact that the season is already well underway by then.

Was I personally hoping for a bit more before now myself? well, yes.. but it's still mid-July either way 🤷‍♂️

Was expecting 4/5 if honest thought a winger would be bought in then maybe another fb.

Are us and West ham trying to assemble the same squad?

Every player were linked with also involves West Ham.

Tells us how much is just pure clickbait as we have two completely different managers yet apparently were going for the same players.
It's the Moyes link. Literally that's it. Similar to the Roma link because of TFG. Utterly laziness from journos as per..
