Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

You do realise we have a wage budget? Start giving the likes of KWP £90k a week and that becomes the norm for all of our squad players, never mind our best players. Can’t be done
I've never said I rate KWP or think he warrants £90k that's not for me to judge and the market will dictate.

However, should we want to improve as a team/club we will have to pay higher wages simple as.

Of course we need to balance it against incoming revenues. Fortunately the yanks, with the exception of that loon at Chelsea, are usually good bean counters.

As we will have greater revenue from the new stadium and hopefully some better commercial deals soon what we pay will probably naturally go up including squad players so I wouldn't worry about it.

I've no doubt we'll cut our cloth accordingly in line with performance.

The bit I am challenging people In here on is the concept £90k is over priced for a squad player in the wider context of the entire PL. It's not.

I don’t know for certain how much Tarkowski is on, but I think it will be quite a high wage with us signing him on a free. Tarkowski is good though, and well worth his wage, whereas KWP is crap, and not worth anything approaching 90k a week.

….interested clubs will know his salary and signing fee demands, I’d imagine a full England international on a free will be in a decent negotiating position.

Think Tarks is on around £100k (which many whinged about when he signed). And as one of the statistically highest rated and most consistent defenders in the league since we signed him, is worth every penny.

Walkers peters is not near his level and if that’s what he is demanding, we definitely need to be swerving him.

Cheers mate. Be dissapointing not to have another quality addition on the plane with them and get them bedded in asap.
If we were doing it right, we'd have most of the squad re-build done before the USA trip. Unfortunately we're going to have to penny pinch as usual, which means probably doing most of that re-build later in the window. The last week should be interesting, but as you say, it would have been nice to have added at least one more quality player before now.
