Goal kick. Basically, after the pens taken it's a goal or, if saved it's a goal kick. Ball goes dead.
So stupid of an idea
Goal kick. Basically, after the pens taken it's a goal or, if saved it's a goal kick. Ball goes dead.
I can see this working out well, with absolutely no problems at all.
Where would all the rest of the players stand? Aside from anything important, it would just look rubbish.I mean, who lobbied for this?
I have never heard anyone say they think it would be a good idea to rule out a goal scored after a goalkeeper parries a penalty kick and a fellow knocks in the rebound.
No one.
Ever.
This smacks of people sitting in a plush office thinking up daft ideas to justify his or her inflated salary.
In fairness that particular change would more likely positively affect you than negatively. If you're away at a Sky 6 ground they're probably more likely to get a pen than you, and now you only have to save the initial pen, not worry about dealing with what happens afterwards.Given the implementation of VAR by the officials, at this point any expansion just looks like greater opportunity to swing games how they want / further benefit the Slysports favourite of the season.
Imagine being lucky enough to actually be awarded a pen at a Sly 6 teams ground, where in theory you are facing one of the best keepers in the world, now your advantage is to be further eroded if they make a save.
Couldn’t make this stuff up.
You would think they would be more interested in making sure they can get the stuff they already preside over right before expanding their reach.
I think the rule change would be because referees are struggling to deal effectively with encroaching which let's be honest every team cheats atIn fairness that particular change would more likely positively affect you than negatively. It would be a ridiculous rule change with no apparent need for it or benefit to the game, but as with a lot of other things like this that get said I think trying to call it evidence of favouring the elite is just shoehorning it in to fit the narrative really.
It seems like a pretty heavy handed solution to what is ultimately a fairly minor issue, but that doesn't necessarily surprise me.I think the rule change would be because referees are struggling to deal effectively with encroaching which let's be honest every team cheats at
Agree totally but the game now is ridiculously over officiated so they'll be patting each other on the back telling each other how clever they areIt seems like a pretty heavy handed solution to what is ultimately a fairly minor issue, but that doesn't necessarily surprise me.

If only for one season you couldn't bet on a football match. Wonder what the outcomes would be thenIt is about ensuring the outcome of certain games featuring certain teams.
That ensures the coffers flow through the game and into certain back pockets.
Completely agree. The rules, erm laws, of the game were internally consistent previously. When the goalie holds the ball too long, it is a technical rule break, not against an opponent, so should be restarted with an indirect kick...now they want to make it a corner despite the ball not having gone over the end line.Bizarre. So they're changing the balance to give the defending team, the team that commited a foul in the box, a greater benefit?
Every new rule introduced makes football worse. It used to be a simple game. It's now an unnecessarily complicated game and I'm not sure who benefits from all of these changes.
Having thought about the penalty rebound rule change I think it will eliminate the need for the players to be lining up to follow up the penalty and there will be not need for players to be near the penalty taker or encroaching into the penalty area when it is being taken. It is a rule that`s as clear as can be, penalty taken, ends with a kick out or tip off. Where the goal keeper holding onto the ball, how many times have keepers held on for as long as they want and not get penalized, and what happened the crack down on diving?Completely agree. Similarly here, the ball is in play, has not gone over the end line, there fore there is no reason to stop play, and certainly not to restart with a goal kick, as it hasn't gone over the end line.
Focus is on completely the wrong things, but there seems to be an epidemic of that right now
