Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I always expected us to be busier in August, Moyes probably did as well.

2/3 weeks for a comfirmed deal seems fair for any significant fee deal for us . For the fillers & loans you would expect them to move more quickly towards the end of the window or on TDD itself with most of the groundwork done.

Boring for the fanbase yes and some might say wasteful with the pre'season prep time/player integration.

Moyes choice? Probably not but possibly half expected as you say.

'Elite players for an Elite stadium' is going to be the quote of the year isn't it.
The misquote of the year yes. He at no point said he was getting elite players. He said that he wants elite players because the stadium is elite. Nothing wrong with stating your desires for the club.

I would say the people sat here believing perrenial relegation battlers Everton can suddently attract 'elite' players this Summer need the reality check.

Lads we've probably got our shortlist but for whatever reason aren't available now. Say for argument sake Kubo is our no1 target and we've agreed a deal with sociadad. Now they say they want a replacement in before releasing him so what can we do?. We can say that if they don't sell him today we're pulling out. They'll tell us fine do one. So we go onto our 2nd and 3rd choice same carry on.

But we go down the list to Jimmy Nomark who plays for the dog and duck who is available right away. But he's not the player we really want and not at the level of Kubo. Wouldn't it make sense to just see the course and get the player you really want, even if it means they're not in for the first 1-2 games of the season?.

We'll get players in I'm sure of it but we might have to go late to get the ones that count.

In an ideal world im sure we would, but I think Obrien did much better thann you suggest, he really helped the balance of the team, and stopped us bieng so weak down that side.

If we bring a starting right back in, Obrien becomes a problem, and loses his game time.

Moyes has history of playing centre backs at full back, and I don't see that changing for this season.

Don't think its too ott to suggest one of the most consistently selected players, and vice captain will likely start every game when fit.

He should never have said it. He likely meant long term ambitions more than anything but still, let the clubs actions speak.
He didn’t say it like that and it takes it out of context.

Winning football matches is always the priority. Then there’s building a club back up if possible.

The damage has not been done by any manager, it’s just through a period of time. I had a great time here and I would love to be part of making it better if possible.

At the end, there’s a stadium. It looks the business, it looks elite so we need to get some elite players so we can give something for everybody to shout about when we move into it.”

Talking about needing to build the club back up. Yes we need elite players, but so does every club. He also didn’t say we would get them, it’s just what we need.
