I'm just not sure he's that good. He's good, and as long as he's fit he could be an excellent signing for us, but it feels like people are elevating him to a level that he's never really been at. He didn't make the grade at City and Juve (who are a massive club but not one of the biggest in recent terms) haven't been convinced either. He's spent a few years at Villa and a couple of them they were in the bottom half. He only has 18 Brazil caps. Like I say, he's a very good PL player, but people seem to keep talking about him as if he's some sort of incredible global megastar and he just isn't really.Luiz....whats wrong with him ?? He was a beast at Villa....move not worked out to a mssive club is understandable...and in a league that is very technical / tactical....but why are English clubs not smahsing the door down for him ??
Seems strange.
Rumours on X that McAtee is in a Liverpool hotel….rumour circulating of medicals booked for today & tomorrow but taking that with a pinch of salt given nothing seems imminent.
Seen it done it Amsterdam.I want him as much as I wanted Keane...
BUT, apparently, according to the majority on here, we can't fill all our holes in one window.
Apparently.
Not Alan Myers.Myers is saying there’s no truth in it.
Who knows ….
He's in a Teutonic hotel, not the Titanic hotel.Rumours on X that McAtee is in a Liverpool hotel
He only lives up the road.Rumours on X that McAtee is in a Liverpool hotel
He’s got tickets for Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at the Empire tonight.Rumours on X that McAtee is in a Liverpool hotel
He couldn’t be arsed with the half hour drive. He only lives up the road.
Who are you comparing him to? He's probably the highest level of established player we can attract. He will be on a different level on the ball to anyone we have had in central midfield since Arteta.I'm just not sure he's that good. I've already replied to you once this morning agreeing with this exact point? Do you ever read posts in context or do you just start bashing away at the keyboard straight away? That post was in reply to someone asking what's wrong with him and why other clubs weren't banging the door down for him, I'm just saying I don't think there's anything 'wrong' with him and it's just the level of player he is. Like I said in the very post you're replying to, I think he could be an excellent signing for us, you don't have to convince me of that. The point is just that i'm not shocked that he isn't being linked with Real Madrid, PSG, City etc, I think he's a very good player but someone that isn't - and never has been - out of our league.Who are you comparing him to? Yeah I think that's fair. He's not an 'elite' player but he is probably the top level of player that we could reasonably attract at this point in timeI've already replied to you once this morning agreeing with this exact point? We could have the player announced on the official site and Alan Myers would still say we are not closeNot Alan Myers.
Yes, exactly. It's a signing i'd be really happy with, just one that I wouldn't be absolutely astonished we'd pulled off that's all.Yeah I think that's fair. He's not an 'elite' player but he is probably the top level of player that we could reasonably attract at this point in time
At his best he would massively benefit our midfield and instantly be our best midfielder.
18 Brazil caps sounds pretty good to me! As you said a very good premier league player, if he is the same player and wrecked with injuries. Would be happier with an initial loan and obligation once conditions are met (i.e performances), but probably worth the risk if €30m can be believed.I'm just not sure he's that good.
