Let’s just hope Pickford doesn’t get injured to begin with, don’t think it’s the worst signing we’ve ever made some premier league experience and still relatively young for a gk so can improve. I’d imagine he’s not on big wages and a relatively small fee paid under the circumstances it’s a smart signing.
I just don't think it is, it's really common. Obviously there aren't necessarily loads at once at any given time purely because of how age works, but as a basic principle it's something that happens all the time. Just thinking about Everton, we signed Robles at 23, Mucha at 27, Wessels at 28, Olsen at 30 etc. Virginia was younger when we signed him but is now 25 and suggested last year he'd have been happy to stay here, Wright wasn't signed as back up but was second choice here for basically all his mid 20s. In short, probably the majority of back up keepers we've had over the last 25 years have been in that bracket, but everybody seems to have forgotten and decided they were all in the Begovic mould. It's just weird at his age, there's maybe other decent quality keepers in their mid 20s at premier league clubs who are happy to never play but can't think of any.

I disagree. Being a premier League manager is better. Getting a £5m payoff for being absolutely shabite. Then walking into a new job and doing it again.Being a Premier League backup keeper is by far the best job that exists on this planet.
Neiler is Mark Travers. What’s the connection, can you divulge?
It's not Phil...it's just us signing a back up goalkeeper.Real statement signing this one
Well when you put it like thatIt's not Phil...it's just us signing a back up goalkeeper.
I do remember the days of statement signings though mate...I remember them all turning out to be pure, high grade Bumgas.Well when you put it like that
