Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Not sure what's happened over the last couple of days that has seemingly made a load of people do a massive about turn and decide that actually we've done loads and the squad is actually great anyway so doesn't really need much doing to it. Maybe it's just a coping mechanism.
Don’t think that’s actually happened though.

Everyone seems to be saying we still need between 4-6 signings. It’s ok to acknowledge the business done so far is good, whether that’s signings or renewals. It’s also people just saying we have a competent starting 11 as it stands for when the season starts rather than wetting the bed that we havent got all the business done a month before the season starts.

Because we currently have:
Beto - proven average.
Chermiti - nobody knows anything about him.
Barry - completely unproven but nice to have brought in a promising up-and-coming striker.

We need at least three strikers on the books capable of starting. Would you be happy seeing Chermiti starting for an extended period of time if Barry and Beto get injured?
Be realistic, like someone mention we play 1 out of 3. If you insist on signing a proven striker of world class standard it will cost 60 to 80m to satisfy your FM lust while we have 60m worth of striker sitting on the bench week in week out.

Please tell me it makes sense.

If the 2 was someone who could drop in and immediately make us better (Kubo & Douglas Luiz for example), would you prefer to wait as my guess is we aren't the first destination on there wish list.
Or would you prefer us to go for players we know we can get in straight away without much fuss of attracting them (Fellows & El Aynaoui)
Tough one, i just dont want us to go for 'he will do for now' especially if they are to be regular first players.

I agree about not just getting people in for the sake of it, although I would say the chances of us doing that significantly increase the later it gets and that's part of what people are concerned about. There is an understandable concern that if we get late in the window and haven't managed to bring in the players we wanted, then re-signing Harrison and making O'Brien the first choice right back (and therefore Keane the first reserve at centre half) etc become the easy option and we end up not progressing. Again.
I think right now with the manager and owners we have im a lot more confident the right deals will be done.

Not all of them will be 'hits' but as long as we dont get any more Gbamins and Gomes Delphs we have improved.

There has been loads of work done, when you look at the timelines, the club has gotten through a huge amount of work within a condensed period.

- Alcaraz
- New Contracts offered - squad clarity.
- Branthwaite.
- Idrissa & Keane, Coleman.
- Barry.
- Mark.

If wed gotten Tete, it would have been great - but its indicative of the work we are doing. If we do the same again over a longer period and we are prob at the half way point in the window today - to the end of the window all is good and wel have secured 6 odd players.

No point being stressed or inpatient, there isn't a chance in the world we wont have a squad of 25 come the close of the window. Another 6 come in, in my opinion. 2 midfielders. 2 full backs and 2 right wingers.

Believe Moyes is on quality control in pursuing deals, his priority is central midfield.
However.. We have 30 days until the season starts and we are needing to integrate at least 4-5 new players by then..

Time is actually ticking quickly!

Is he a left winger? Seems more of a central player, definitely not a conventional wide player. He’d actually be a good Doucoure replacement, who could cover a few positions, wide/10 and centre mid. Obviously he’s a lot better than doucoure

We currently have 3 of those left sided players that like to play centrally.

We dont need more.

We hope the business we've done so far has been good. Realistically not many people would have said re-signing Keane and Coleman and paying £4m for a back up keeper was us doing good business if you'd asked them 6 weeks ago, nor would they have said they'd be fine for us to start the coming season with a team made up entirely of players already on the books, but suddenly people have changed their tune. It's fine obviously, it's all just opinions and whatever, it just seems like a bit of a shift in what people are saying.

I agree

And i think the first 2 would
a) take some persuasion
b) possibly have other suitors

I'm hoping that's the reason we haven't gone hell for leather and the easier options are lined up to move on once we know our first choice isnt possible (a bit like we did with Delap)

Its also interesting we haven't really heard much about a right back since Tete went back on his agreement, wonder if that was just an opportunistic punt.

If it means we have stronger players in our first XI in other positions then absolutely. It's a calculated risk that we have to take.
