Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I'm still not completely sold on any of the players that have been linked for the right wing position. Bakayoko was the one I think would have been best suited.

Doak: Injury issues
McAtee: more a no 10
Fellows: Lacks pace and one dimensional
Hutchinson: overrated and better on the left
Kubo: Can he adapt to the premier league?

Glad I'm not doing the scouting. I'd be dithering more than Moyes!
I'm still all in on Kubo.

McAtee I think is much more of a risk quality-wise - he was rubbish at Sheffield

LOL.

We didn't save anything. We offered a lot more than any other club would and Villareal didn't need to sell, but expected Barry's value to have peaked this summer.

If Villareal expected clubs to come in for Barry and pay the release clause next summer, they would have kept him. If they thought he will be a lot more worth in the future, they would have signed him up with a new contract and played him in Champions League next season.

Even those who have watched him a lot and rate him as a player, think Everton have paid silly money for him.

That doesn't mean he won't be good, but it is a massive gamble. With potential to become Everton's worst signing ever.

Stop the talk of tough negotiators. Barry was at U21 Euros. Followed by his vacation. Everton, Villareal and Barry had all the time in the world. And there ware no other clubs willing to pay close to what Everton ended up doing.

Jude Bellingham has a £870 million release clause. We should offer Real Madrid £800 million for him. Great possibility to save £70 million through tough negotiations.
What utter bollox

Thank you for providing your insight from what you gleamed from being privy to the inner workings of the negotiations, you don't come off pretentious at all.

This is basically my view too. I have a question what has happened with Dilane Bakwa and the lack of suitors? Seems personally to check a lot of boxes with a fair bit of assurance and yet is without any real buzz. I may be missing something in reports, there’s the difficulty that your dealing with Chelsea in a way but if Bakayoko is a wash I’d take Bakwa over the field that’s been rumored.

Bellingham is bang average...

Pretty sure Kubo will adapt to the physicality of the Prem league, I know majority of Japanese players are built like wet Rizla papers flapping in the wind however they are renowned for robustness and they leave it all on the pitch, 100% he’s an Everton fit.

At the start of the window we had money. Our competitors did not.

Now, with other clubs selling players, our competitors also have money to spend.

Our inactivity has now increased our competition.

Why did we not press home our advantage and sign players?
This.

On the one hand, Moyes mostly has done more better than bad business at Everton, overall: Lescott, Stones, Baines, Jags, Fellaini and others ( Distin, Grav, Pienaar, etc ). Obvs a few disappointments too.

Solid, good attitudes, mostly defensive players.

So it's a relief we at least have 2 strikers stronger than our options last season.

I do find our late business frustrating, the point you make is true and it feeds into our perennially slower starts to the season, which I find wasteful, arrogant and dumb.

11 games before we play Utd then Newcastle end Nov. Only RS, Villa and City are trickier in that run. DON'T WASTE THAT START TFG AND MOYES ( you know we're going to ).

Realistically 20 odd points on the table, hoping for at least 16-18pts by the time we're at that point.
