Everton Youth Teams Thread

….in demand players leave when they want to leave. The Board didn’t stop Branthwaite going, he could’ve gone but he was happy to stay and sign a new deal.

Whether they are young or whether they are old, the bonus is our best players choosing to stay; Gueye and Branthwaite,
Behave £sss kept him here & he has a good buy out clause pity Robinson never .....

….he’s not signed previous offers and he’d earn plenty of £s in a transfer, the key here was he chose to stay. Release clause or not, he’ll move when he wants but it negates the Bosman and ups the asking price.

No idea who Robinson is, maybe Antonee Robinson.

Left fullback at Fulham sold to Wigan for a mere £1 million ....
Antonee Robinson

Antonee Robinson (born August 8, 1997) is a professional soccer player who plays as a left-back for Premier League club Fulham. Born in England, he represents the United States national team. Nicknamed Jedi, he is known for his pace, work rate, and offensive ability.

Its not a laughing matter - he would walk into our team now ....

With out seeing them the ones out on loan we will never know - the great Colin Harvey would never have broke through under this system - I am on about the layout of not enough games regional teams - the squad numbers - i.e. if they are really good, but not named in the squad they cant play -
Plus we sold a top class left back for a £million to Wigan who would now walk into our team & is holding a permanent place with Fulham he was only a USA international when we sold him!

Plus over the park they have a full back & a midfielder who get games under 21 years old - so IMO we are doing things wrong at youth level - the system does not help, but in the boring Walter Smith days I followed a non league club - I was amazed at the standard of play I watched Barry Hales who made the Prem - & a few others that made the football league in fact some teams our now in our football league ...

I knew in our friendly v Coventry away last season under Dyche we were looking at big trouble when Coventry City outclassed us in a friendly away - even when their youngsters came on we never took control -

DM saved us & I was hesitant on his appointment as I always think you should never go back - but Dyche had lost the plot that much -

The lower leagues are much harder to play in too - no protection from referee's - so send a good prospect too low down in the league set up is a hard task a few have been injured vey badly -
I loved watching EFC youth when I was a young kid I know times have changed we had a youth team an A&B team a reserve team & a first team & foreign players were first used by Bobby Robson which has now changed the game completely I understand all that - but players are out there look at Harry Kane ! I know he did go out on loan for a short period - We have had Jack Rodwell & Wayne Rooney under the coaching of a certain Colin Harvey -

Leon Osman was at Derby only media praise made DM get him back - I am just pointing out our system is broken the Ashley Young signing proved that !
The number of player we release who then go onto being regular Premiership players is remarkably few.
They are released by Everton usually aged between 18 and 22 after being in a high quality academy for a number of years. Their whole careers are ahead of them and generally are of interest to lower league team because of the training and experience they get at Everton and clubs like Everton. If they are good enough they can build their careers from there.

The majority of the lucky ones go on to have decent careers in the Championship or lower.

At the moment I can think of Antonee Robinson as one that got away but not sure about any other.

Joey, you are absolutely obsessed with Antonee Robinson. He left like 6 years ago. Please let it go.

….not Robinson again. I posted at the time i thought it was a mistake moving him on, there was an opportunity for him to become back-up at that point, but he’d had a dreadful time with injuries and the club decided to sell.

I laugh because we were talking about Branthwaite. Robinson moved to Wigan for very little and then similar to Fulham, monies involved was negligible so sell-on and buy-out clauses didn’t come into play with him. Robinson is one that got away but there’s not many of them.

Seems to have slipped your mind ever so quickly though :D

….not at all, just couldn’t equate Robinson to our Branthwaite discussion. Actually, looked back to my posts about him from 2017 onwards in the old youth team threads, I liked him lots. Funny enough, never noticed any from you when he moved on
