Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

In May, I felt we need 8 new players (so not including Alcaraz). However that was assuming Keane was off. But he stayed. If we can get Travers over the line then we are getting there.

Back up GK
Starting RB,
Back up LB,
4th choice CB,
Ball playing CM,
Starting RW,
Starting ST.
Another forward (preferably can play across front 3 but otherwise backup RW)

Need 5 more. Still getting links for forward/midfield players. Seems a bit quieter for the RB/LB links.
i think beto will be our starting striker to begin with

But we play Accrington tomorrow night and we don’t have a full match day squad!

The difference between Europe and mid-table will be down to results in the first couple of months. We can’t afford to be fumbling around for bodies much longer if we expect the whole squad to be up to fitness and fully drilled by then!!!

Yes we do?

You don't think we have 20 players to fill a match day squad?

We'll have at least 19-20 players available for tomorrow night, I'm pretty sure. First game of pre season we always get a glut of the young lads involved.

Whoever shows more pre-season will get the nod against Leeds.

If Barry can prove he is upto the task then he will start, we dont sign 30m pound players to warm the bench, he has been bought as our new number 9.
I mean, he only cost £1.8m more than Beto cost. So one of them is going to have to warm the bench. Unless Moyes decides to change it up and start them both.

I agree. I don’t think any player we sign (maybe barring a RW) will start for us immediately. But Barry has been brought in to be the starting striker so will get it at some point.
Yes agreed. Moyes said at the time of his signing ( and I'm paraphrasing) " We will give him time to settle in " which , like you I took to mean that he would start with Beto and integrate Barry gently.

I think he probably meant that in a 'don't lose your heads if he doesn't hit the ground running' type way rather than meaning he didn't intend to play him. I would guess that the intention is for him to be a regular starter from the off, but as others have said, it will effectively depend how pre-season goes as to who gets the nod at first (as it should).

Manchester United in for Richard Rios - CM plays for Palmeiras, 25m.
Wolves in for Jhon Arias - RW plays for Fluminense, 20m.

These are the sort of players I’d like us to sign.
Not mega expensive and will have resale value.
Also wages should be manageable compared to players like Ndidi who are on big money.
That Arias turns 28 a few weeks into the season, not sure on the resale value there.
