Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning everyone.

Well I enjoyed the Madonna film but I'm more Desperately Seeking Rain than Susan.

Garden is wilting before my eyes. We don't have a hosepipe ban ( yet ) but watering a 2 acre garden even with a hosepipe isn't easy.

Anyway looks like my wishes will come true tomorrow when heavy rain is forecast. Also chance of a shower today.

Woke up yesterday with a bad back ( happens with me occasionally) and was unable to do anything yesterday.

To make matters worse mum had another fall yesterday, her 2nd in a week.

Reported it to Lancs CC to get a reassessment of her condition and whether she can safely stay at home or go into care full time. Bit worrying and I know that I can't give her care and supervision 24/7.

Backs slightly better today but with my sensible head on no gym or gardening today.

So , a day of restorative yoga, rest, reading and watching the cricket today.

Whatever you do have a lovely day everyone.
Sorry to hear about your mum mate. But for what it's worth I'm glad you're taking a pragmatic view on it. It's not easy making those tough decisions, especially when guilt kicks in. Hopefully she's able to stay with you a while longer.

So sorry to hear about your mum @jazzy, I hope she is ok. Giving 24/7 care and support is really difficult and energy draining even with two doing it, you would really struggle by yourself. You will probably have to pay £4-£5K per month, but with a bit of luck and support from Lancs CC you may escape the full charge…..

Hello everybody. So sorry to hear your Mum had a fall @jazzy. I hope she can stay at home with you for as long as possible. I hope your back is improving.
I went back to work today- a whole 4 hours of a phased return. It was OK though. Then I went to see Mr F who is still in hospital. He is much better but the docs are still concerned about the swelling in his foot and ankle. He thinks he will be home tomorrow but I'm not so sure. Im currently minding Frankie while Charlotte goes in to see her Dad.
The cricket was awesome. I've really enjoyed this series so far. I thought Ben Stokes was incredible today.

Well Kay drove me up the wall on the drive, fiddling with the car door latch every minute or two, even though I had the rear doors and windows on childlock. I didn’t get much sleep, if any, the night before which probably made me somewhat irritable ( the dog didn’t help when he got into Kays bedroom and crapped on the carpet) so this was like the straw that broke the camels back. I’ve got to get rid of the dog as I can’t deal with both him and Kay tbh…..
Anyway today is another day and we’ll see how it goes, one day at a time. Sorry for whinging but I need to sleep…….

How you have coped so far is amazing Pete , I think it is sad the dog must go but needs must .The last thing you need is to be irritated by something you can do something about . Stay strong that man .

Good morning all on this warm one here another hot one expected 32 ° yesterday and the same again for us . I hope all are well and had a good night last night coping with the heat .I hope your Mum recovers well @jazzy and you find a way to manage her staying home ,beside the money it is the detachment that plagues you ,I wish her well . It will be nice to see Mr F back home up to his shenanigans .
Not much going on here but I didn't mention the power of my neighbour ,for four years I have had a broken quad and long since given up on it after doing my best as I am not usedd to motorcycle engines then forking out ( see what I did there ) 400euros to be told it will get you to your postbox ,for it then to do exactly that and stop working again ,well , I asked my neighbour to give it a coat of looking at .He came around on Saturday and went through the basics for me to find a loose connection under the carb now it seems to be just a dirty / blocked jet as it will run but cut out when not running fast ,which he says is a very small problem .So it is clean-the carb-day today if I am allowed to walk that far .
Have a great day all COYB.

Liam Gallagher sounds better now than he did when Oasis were going the first time. Found the Heaten Park gig on YouTube and it’s a great show.

Fun fact, the first time I ever heard a band play a song live that was number 1 at the time was Oasis in Slane 1995 (Some might say). Probably the only time actually now I think about it.
I think you'll probably find it was the crowd singing in tune mate.😃

Yeah it is gruesome at times alright but the setting is so beautiful. You can only imagine what a major storm is like for the islands off the West coast.
I lived in Claddaghduff just a few km from the western most point past Clifden for 5 months from August to December (a temporary work posting in Clifden - 1989).

I thought I'd love it but the weather was awful.

I didn't see the sun for 4 months. Nothing to do after work especially after September when everything shut except the pubs.

Bad for the mind, liver and general health.

If the sun shone, the scenery is fabulous but it didn't while I was there, and as a neighbor said, 'You can't eat the ******* scenery' 😭

Island life must be even harder. I could drive to Westport or Galway in an hour or hour and a half to meet some civilization.

Residents on the smaller islands are dependant on irregular boats and the weather.

Nice to visit once in a while but give me my adopted home in the sunny South East any time!!

It’s all duck or no dinner when it comes to properly living on an island. Good to see the tourist trips out to our own are thriving though.
