Confirmed Signing Mark Travers

i think the only concerns people have/negativity is because we have so many areas that despeately need starting eleven players or cover and are much more expensive to recruit too, so £4mil on a position that is least likely ot be needed when there are plnety of free agents available seems a bit of a waste. I imagine it's also a hangover of us having nothing to spend for the last 4 years.

hopefully though it's a positive sign that we can afford to buy a GK, as well as a right winger(s), CM, right back, a left back and another forward who can play across the front

Two goalkeepers have left. We need a squad. £4m is absolutely nothing especially if 4 year contract.

Don't doubt that we need a back up GK but this isn't a signing I can get excited about , especially when we need so many outfield players.

I've seen no evidence of it but let's hope that the recruitment team is capable of working on more than one transfer at a time.
GK is the most important position if you are the manager and not a player.

I think it's a good deal and it makes a change from having a backup keeper in his late thirties. Good age too, with time still to develop.
But Travers won't stick around for multiple years as long as Pickford is around. It is the problem when you have an undisputed nr 1. At least for next season we are covered 😏

Why wouldn't he? I really don't understand this line that people keep using, as if being a back up keeper is a totally novel idea that nobody's ever done before. He's not come here expecting to oust Pickford, he's always been a 2nd choice at the top level, there's no reason to think he won't be happy to do that for the foreseeable. There are hundreds of keepers fulfilling that role all over the world, just as they have been for as long as subs have been a thing.

Made some decent stops there, and couldn’t do anything for the goal.

For the fee, this seems like a very decent deal for a back up gk.
Yes going on that game he looks like a good goalkeeper but where is his ambition— 26 years of age you’d think he’d want to play regular first team football, doubt if he’ll get much of that at Everton.
