Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Dear Pilks

Being new to this place I haven’t had the good fortune to get to know you. Consider us introduced. Also, allow me to introduce you to Albert Camus:

“I waited for the daily walk, which I took in the courtyard, or for a visit from my lawyer. The rest of the time I managed pretty well. At the time, I often thought that if I had had to live in the trunk of a dead tree with nothing to do but look up at the sky flowering overhead, little by little I would have gotten used to it. I would have waited for birds to fly by or clouds to mingle, just as here I waited to see my lawyer’s ties and just as, in another world, I used to wait patiently until Saturday to hold Marie’s body in my arms. Now, as I think back on it, I wasn’t in a hollow tree trunk. There were others worse off than me. Anyway, it was one of Maman’s ideas, and she often repeated it, that after a while you could get used to anything.” (The Outsider, Albert Camus)

Look up. Like a hollowed out tree trunk, there is always an opening, even a small one. Trust me, you can get used to almost anything.Hang around, let’s get to know each other. It makes a change from the off-season transfer pants-pissing that goes on—the Everton forum squirts like an untended garden hose. Post often, make jokes.

BTW, the Bayeux Tapestry is being loaned to the UK for the first time. There is a small section near the end that no one seems to remark upon—most likely from fear of embarrassment.

I have the honour to be, Sir, your most obedient and humble servant. May your horse be swift, and your hogs fat for winter.

Yours sincerely,

P.S. Don’t forget to look up. "In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger — something better, pushing right back." (more Camus)

I love that image. I’m going to get it printed and framed by my lad and put up in the pub…..

If you haven’t already seen it, I recommend the Banshee of Inisherin as a film to watch. I spent my morning watching that with a fan blowing beautifully cold air around me. No matter what the weather man says, I think it’s warmer today than yesterday.
I watched that film. It's not an easy watch but I really enjoyed it.

Mrs J hated it!

Everything. She didn't like the story , particularly the bit where he chopped his finger off.

I pointed out the great acting and the scenery - she wasn't interested.

Which is interesting as she is a Mulrooney 😂
Yeah it is gruesome at times alright but the setting is so beautiful. You can only imagine what a major storm is like for the islands off the West coast.

Morning everyone.

Well I enjoyed the Madonna film but I'm more Desperately Seeking Rain than Susan.

Garden is wilting before my eyes. We don't have a hosepipe ban ( yet ) but watering a 2 acre garden even with a hosepipe isn't easy.

Anyway looks like my wishes will come true tomorrow when heavy rain is forecast. Also chance of a shower today.

Woke up yesterday with a bad back ( happens with me occasionally) and was unable to do anything yesterday.

To make matters worse mum had another fall yesterday, her 2nd in a week.

Reported it to Lancs CC to get a reassessment of her condition and whether she can safely stay at home or go into care full time. Bit worrying and I know that I can't give her care and supervision 24/7.

Backs slightly better today but with my sensible head on no gym or gardening today.

So , a day of restorative yoga, rest, reading and watching the cricket today.

Whatever you do have a lovely day everyone.

Sorry to hear that Granny has had another fall, hope she isn’t hurt too badly. Take care of yourself too and enjoy a day of resting.
