Everton Youth Teams Thread

I hope he makes the squad this year - we tend to go for expensive youth players - which is good if they turn out great as the fees are astronomical - its a changing game I agree - but you need a blend of youth & experience no doubts - Jack Harrison stopped our youth development - that could easily be argued !
Two seasons of nonentity on sky high wages .....
People make the argument about young players not getting a chance from managers as if the manager had a vendetta against them.
Young players are not picked because they are not good enough yet ..most never will be
The best young players will get a chance as we saw with Rooney, DCL, Gordon, Armstrong and others.

It is a professional sport , a cut throat sport where a manager is only as good as their last game, they have to pick players they feel can win games.

We have just signed an under 21 for mega money- I hope he makes the grade it's the squad number system that restricts young players getting a call up two keepers on the bench was a joke last season imo !

That fee is nothing for a player around that age, Liverpool signed somebody the same age for nearly 100m more.
I am not anti against young players I am all for them - two posters pulled faces about two keepers on the bench - how many times was one used ?
I prefer to see an up & coming player gaining experience from a bench .... one keeper is enough on the bench IMO ....

It's a relatively safe assumption that over the course of the year, players will get loaned out or injury prone players will miss time through injury. If we get to September and no one has been loaned or sold ill hold my hands up and say fair enough, the squads mahoosive, old and poor but right now, in July, its not a big deal.

which players do you actually see getting adversely affected by this large squad? Because to me the club have already shown they will prioritise the ones with a chance of the first team over older players already.

I think it’s more we have a lot of attackers and not a lot of minutes to actually use them. Youth teams just flat out don’t play enough games for me.

I struggle to recognise many of the 1st years except Morgan, I just haven’t seen enough of them this season. I’m guessing that the very tall No6 is Harvey Foster. Is anybody able to confirm that his dad was John Foster who once played full back for Man City?
Yes Harvey’s dad is Manchester City full back John Foster, Harvey is 6’3 so he’s tall. I know this as I’m his mum 👍🏼

Welcome 🙂, that took me by surprise as I wrote that in December 2023, since then we’ve being able to see a lot more of young Harvey, he looked to be a key player in our u18s midfield last season developing nicely in the 6 /8 roles . Good luck to him for the coming season.

Nice to get relatives on here. I remember we used to get Charlie Whitaker's uncle posting occasionally. A Sheffield Wednesday fan if I recall correctly. Also Bernie the Bolt's son pops up from time to time.

…yep, I’ve always thought it likely that players have a look at these sites, especially the young lads who have been brought up on social media.

Harvey certainly looks like his Dad;
