The Oldies Thread

My Nan would send me with a note to the Outoor for draught sherry

….in very cold winters, my Mum would sometimes give me a little sip of sherry before school. I’ve never been one to get colds or flu, never off school or work so perhaps the sherry helped.

‘Draught’ sherry sounds a bit lethal, can’t say I’m familiar with it.

Sherry, Woodbines, they're were just products like bread and milk, fish and chips...and all still perfectly legal - even now, yet in today's world I still find it a bit silly that me 'the child' might be though some how traumatised, contaminated by carrying 10 Woodies and change from 2 bob back home...it was just going on a message

Remember waiting for the pink Football Echo to be delivered on a Saturday night, it was a dash to the front door to see who could look at the write up first.
Yeah, I remember waiting at the paper shop (usually with about a dozen others) for the Echo delivery van to turn up with the pinks.
He always got dogs abuse if he was 5 minutes late.
