TV Series

Nice one. I'm trying to blast through the second foundation just before the third season comes out.

I'm really enjoying the scale of the space opera he has constructed and the tie-ins the show and later books have with Asimov's other work.
Best get a move on! šŸ˜‚ Yes, must agree, staggering really and so far ahead of its time.

As I was saying my old man read most of his books (I, robot his favourite if memory serves me) whist at sea in the 60/70’s. Considering that I’m fascinated by science fiction books, I can’t believe I haven’t read it.

I’ve even now found it on my Audible, must have downloaded it years ago. Enjoy your book!

Watched anything good lately, lads?

I'm in anime heaven at the moment but others that hit the spot:

- Mercy For None (belter Korean revenge thriller)
- Sandman (Part 1)
- Mobland (still can't work out if it's meant to be a comedy)
- Andor (obviously)
- Dept. Q (was quirky and quite unpredictable)
Catching up on old stuff I missed when I didn't have a streaming subscription:

Just finished the final season of The Deuce, not quite The Wire but top notch.
True Detective Season 2 - not up to Season 1 but not as bad as people seem to think.
Tried The Righteous Gemstones - gave up. The Penguin ditto.
Followed it up with The Plot Against America - decent watch and frightening parallels with the orange man-baby.
Currently getting through the final season of Westworld and, for a bit of light relief, enjoying Poker Face.
True Detective Season 3 is on the list.

Please give the Penguin another go at some point.

True Detective S3 is yikes but 4 is even worse.

The Red Riding Trilogy is dropping on Netflix next week.

It was on mid 2000’s on channel 4, so a lot won’t have caught it first time around.

The only thing I can compare it too, is a British version of the first series of True Detective, it really is that good and every bit as dark and bleak.

Set in the late 70’s early 80’s the Yorkshire Ripper is running riot, the series follows the investigation by the police, the coverage by the press, council corruption and child abduction / abuse.

Can’t recommend it enough, but it’ll give you nightmares though.

If you look at the cast too.

It would be virtually impossible for a regular tv channel to put together a cast like that, due to the sheer cost of hiring them.

It’s one of the best crime dramas of all time ( imo ) but it’s just so dark, which is why I compared it to the first series of True Detective.

I’ve read the books several times and the tv series cuts nothing out, which is very rare, due to the sheer depravity of some of the content.

It really is a must watch ( imo )

I watched these in uni years back.

Remember Andrew Garfield really standing out as a superstar.

Brilliant piece of tv. Dark as anything but unfortunately quite close to the truth.
