Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think a lot of us are starting to get a bit twitchy here. I know a few have commented the last day or two telling everyone to stop “wetting the bed”
And that there’s still a month to go, but the reality is the squad is currently threadbare. Goat put up a first 11 and he’s correct in saying it’s a pretty good one, but underneath that there’s nothing there. An injury or two and we’re snookered.

Yes of course there’s still time, but the point people are making about getting them in in time to integrate them and give them a preseason here is a valid one. You just know we’ll get the tired old excuse come late August when new signings are not involved, that they’re “not ready”.

We need a strong link from reliable sources this coming week to calm a few me included. It’s time to start delivering.

That’s your opinion mate … I have zero interest in women “football” and frankly I find all the mental comments the woman’s players and pundits make about equal pay etc .

If they want equality…. Then then can take the comments the same as the men do.

Men’s prem players get the Mickey taken out of them all the time and being called a “five head” would not even register with them if someone called them it .
It is just my opinion mate I know. Not trying to get on my high horse or anything about it. Imo even if you put the gendered aspect entirely to one side, the context changes quite a lot when it's members of a majority 'in' group making derogatory comments about members of a minority 'out' group - in any situation, that makes things feel more cliquey and exclusionary. Applies to being the new guy at work in the same way it applies to maybe being a woman browsing this forum. That's why I think it's different to men making comments about male footballers.

I just think football should be for everyone, and it's pretty clear that women - on average - don't feel quite as comfortable in football spaces as men. I might be wrong that making fewer comments like that would change that, but it's just my opinion.

Worry for me is that we don't get the key players in before the first game and like the past few seasons we forfeit the first couple of games and look so off the pace and disjointed.

Be refreshing if we do get the main targets before the Leeds game and any other squad fillers or loans left to deadline day.

Definitely need to get a good start and can't just be throwing away August again.

Signings will help but so will a decent preseason and not just having the lads do 12 gaffers day's.

I bet our starting 11 in the first game has about 10 of the players who were starting regularly last season.

Only addition to that would be a new RW but I could even see McNeil starting on the right.

(Possibly a new RB also starts if Tarks isn’t fully fit and JOB plays centrally but I think Tarks will start).

So for me, it’s not really a worry about new signings not being here yet as I don’t think they would be starting day 1 anyway.

FWIW gut feeling I think Travers and A.N. Other (yes he can play RW) will come in this week.

If we could then squeeze one more in before the USA then things will look a whole lot rosier, last bit might be a bit tight though, although not beyond the realms of possibility they follow a bit later and just maybe don't play the first game.

Saying that, I will be prepared to join the bed wetters union if nothing happens this coming week.

And why would this happen?

We can start the same team that ended last season beating most sides.

You have issues mate.

The good thing for me, barring injuries, is that come first game of the season we can put out the same XI that was really strong second half of last season. There’s continuity there and whilst it needs strengthening and needs rotation, that’s a solid starting point.
The footage of Tarkowski in full training is also a massive boost. That back line brings that continuity and gives us a solid foundation.
