Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

….odd how we’ve never really brought a keeper through in my 60+ years watching Everton. Albert Dunlop, Andy Rankin and Geoff Barnett decent enough but none really staked their place, hardly anything since, maybe Jason Keaton et al.

Amazing really, but I don’t think we’re alone in that respect. Keepers tend to develop elsewhere before being bought by top flight clubs.
Most top flight clubs can't take the risk of blooding a young, inexperienced keeper. In any other position on the pitch a mistake is unfortunate but probably doesn't cost you the match, one mistake from a keeper and it's invariably a goal. You can understand that where the stakes are higher, and the resources are greater, fewer chances are taken on developing goalkeepers.

Bringing an academy keeper through seems really rare across the board doesn’t it? It’s the one position where everybody seems to absolutely insist on first team experience.

You can say this about a lot of leagues when you’re being specifically choosy.

Last season he was meant to move away and didn’t, not a great sign if you’re in a huff but the talent is blatant. Kubo would get bullied.

Certainly seems that way.

Notts County

OR

Nottm Forest

If Fellows + Travers = £15mil

Then it seems like a waste of money when that £15mil could be added to our budget for a better player. Thats also the cost of a decent full back.

Alcaraz & Barry could become elite in a season or two.

But he's yet to sign anyone else so i suppose Coleman and Keane must be "elite" to Moyes.
Would be 13 then at both 4/5 year deals travers maybe 5 mill with sell om potential. Fellows maybe 8 so could be 3/4 on the psr books. Would argue get money back on both.
Bobbles post today sounds like it will be Kubo who we will actively pursue
Really hopefully same as barry under his release fee, and the lad pushes to come

Accountability for those who start transfer rumours would really set the cat amongst the pigeons. I wonder if folks would persist in creating rumours if they were called out? :coffee:

I think it's more the fact the folk who start the blag rumours dont actually care The thirst for instant info and believing almost everything writtem/spoken seems to trump actual facts. That goes right through society too. Romano for ecampld has enough paid subscribers, agent backhanders etc to weather the increased flak he gets and would get even if he was highlighted as a mere influencer and not reliable at all.

Prefer him to Bakayoko if its one or the other, would be the best signing we've made in some time.

Going to be such a hard deal to pull off though. 4 years left on his contract, big sell on due to Madrid and Sociedad have just made a big money sale.

If TFG and the new staff can get this over the line I'll really start to believe in what were building here.
