Crystal Palace and the Europa League

I feel sorry for Palace and disagree that Forest should replace them. I also think the rule is pathetic.

But that said, the rules are the rules and they could have easily had this sorted. It’s just really really poor club management. And this whole thing around Textor not having a controlling say is just ridiculous. He had 42% of the club. As if he doesn’t have a say in how it’s run.

The most ironic thing about it all is that UEFA allow loan players to play against their parent clubs which I would say is a bigger conflict of interest than ownership.
So you’re saying that (a)Textor had a controlling say, (b) he “had a say” in how the club is run because “ he had 42% of the club”. - your last point is factually incorrect and your first two points contradict each other.
As for the “rules are rules” jabber - rules were rules when Man City and Girona from the same MCO (Palace aren’t even in an MCO) were allowed to compete together in The Champions League.
Where were the “Rules are Rules” experts then?

I don’t know the exact rules but it feels very unfair to demote Palace. They’ve tried their best to quickly rectify the issue in good faith, you can’t just sell shares in a football club overnight.

Hope Forest have a terrible season, what an odious club they’ve become under that fat Greek gobshite.
I have no problem with Forest as a club or their fans, only their corrupt owner. Guilty of match fixing and held up as a paragon of virtue by FIFA as suitable to replace Palace.

Personally, I feel sorry for Palace and think you've been fairly hard done by, however I think the differences between City and yourselves is Textor himself.

From what I've read, Lyon under his tenure have been shambolically run, and unfortunately you (Palace) apparently didn't meet the June deadline.

Rightly or wrongly, I suspect UEFA do not believe his assurances that he would sell his stake and/or release whatever control he has, are worth much.

The club ais being held to account for that charlatan's actions, or lack of, and it reassures me that we dodged a huge bullet with him!

The Man City / Girona example is different because they were in the same MCO. Palace are not even in an MCO. The sale of Textor’s shares are due to complete in the coming week now that the EPL have approved Woody Johnson as a “fit and proper person “ UEFA will have seen documents to confirm this and Textor included those funds when he was convincing the French FA to reinstate Lyon in Ligue 1. So now Textor won’t own the shares at all rather than having them in a blind trust. Surely more in line with UEFA’s intentions and objectives.

Exactly.

Textor is a charlatan. Unfortunately for Palace, he is a, generally-speaking, powerless charlatan in the great scheme of things - as opposed to the actual dangers at City, Newcastle, PSG etc.

The fans are suffering because somebody or other sold shares to a small-time charlatan. Heck, we know precisely how that feels...

Why are people trying to normalise the fans of a club not being allowed to see their team in Europe when they’ve earned it? The rules don’t matter, it isn’t right.

It's all palaces fault. They were sent an email telling them the rules were changing.

Steve parish crying saying it went to an email address they don't use. Literally on the image on palaces official handbook it lists that email address and Textor as a director who obviously has significant interest.

Plus Textor said he saw the email in February. The club are lying to their fans
