Confirmed Signing Mark Travers

Sorry. Absolutely not a priority for me. Always rated Harry Tyrer and he is not inexperienced, earned good reviews on loan at Chester, Chesterfield and Blackpool.
Perfectly adequate as a number 2, without spending money that could be better used elsewhere.

He will likely be going out on loan again, because the club rate the keepers at U18 at a higher level and want them around the first team.

Travers would be the go-between.

Tyrer has potential but goalkeepers are difficult because you don't tend to give them 20 minutes here and there or rotate (unless it's a cup game).

Pickford is clearly number one for a few more seasons yet so another loan for Tyrer would be best. Maybe see if he can step up to the championship although I would personally be offering him back to Blackpool. Steve Bruce has made some solid signings and I think they will have a right go at promotion.

I don't think this is a "priority" signing just a deal that's been easy to do due to him being surplus to requirements.

Pickford needs an experienced number 2 to continue to support him to improve and press on. I get the concern re using budget but not as averse to this as many others. Gunn also and international and could have done a similar job on a free but obviously Moyes doesn’t think he would provide enough of a credible competition.

Pickford: he's halfway through his contract and he could conceivably be on his last season here before he looks for a final club to end his career with and Everton be in any position of strength to get cash for him.

It's decent forward planning getting this feller in - if he's good enough.

If Pickford leaves we absolutely won’t be replacing him with £5m Mark Travers.

If he's already here then he won't really be a replacement. Hopefully he will perform well enough in the cup games to make the step up seamless. That's if we buy him.

I disagree. Every Premier League club needs a backup keeper of proven PL standard. Show me one club that doesn't. We have to plan for what happens if Pickford is injured or suspended. The backup keeper has to be totally dependable because keeper errors cost points and every point is vital.
