Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

If I’m honest I think people went a bit overboard about o’briens performances at right back. He showed he was a good footballer but he had some very average games in my opinion, and people just got a bit giddy because he wasn’t ashley young and we were getting decent results. I’m not sure I’d like to see him there long term, I feel like it could be a bit like when Godfrey’s initial form at full back didn’t last, but obviously I’d love to be wrong.
Exactly. I see it as a Lescott type thing were he is Tarkowski’s long-term replacement, but gets more minutes under his belt before moving into the middle as James ages out.

So we get to carefully select the long-term right back while using this as a transitional building season, but take full advantage of the very strong defensive base we have.

Also, I very much liked the hybrid 3-4 thing we had in the second half of last season. It was defensively strong and allowed good overloads on both flanks.

I don’t know who any of the players we get linked with are but Kubo has the best name so I say we get him

Wtf, that address is literally 50 metres from my house. I'll send the round heavies in the morning to tell them to stop posting jarg articles about Everton :p
They just trying to make a bit of cash match. Arlarse sending your missus round

When you look at the teams that are currently our rivals (the mid-lower level teams + overachieves), their best players are all getting poached - Ait-Nori, Cunha (Wol), Kudus (WHU), MGW, Elanga (NOT), Wissa? Mbuemo? Norgaard (BRE) - I appreciate Everton don't have the squad but the fact we've managed to keep our best players is a real strength going into next season

West Ham are a team who may well be looking nervously over their shoulders. No money to spend & selling their best players. Anger from fans at the board.
Plus were poor last season.

Potter for me was overhyped as well…think he doesn't handle pressure or expectation well.

You're right. I actually watched most of their live TV matches last year and unless Bowen was on it or had a moment of magic they were poor rather than even average. Shipped plenty of goals last season too.

Conference League win or not their promise has evaporated quickly, and absolutely Potter will not handle it well

If it stays that way when the window ends brilliant. Worry is now these teams selling for big money and having the big funds to spend could mean the market then going mental or we get outbid on the players we want.

Im usually always positive when it comes to everton but just once it would be boss to sign players in the positions we badly need and getting them in early enough that they get preseason together and start the season strong.

“I wouldn’t pass water over Wolverhampton or West Ham.”

Yep. Think they will really struggle. Same for Brentford. Leeds and Burnley I expect to be rubbish. But I think Sunderland may just about break the promoted team curse and squeak over the line at the expense of one of the two above.

Really hope Sunderland do too. Cracking club.
