Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Saw an interesting stat about Fellows - he got 14 assists, but his "expected assists" was actually about 7 - which means that players finished an unusually high number of chances that he created, and if he reverted to the mean I'm not sure there would be such clamour for him. I'd much rather wait and see what happens next season with him. The figures being thrown about for him aren't *that* high, so I'm a little bit sceptical about him in all honesty. The figures involved for Ben Doak, for example, are a fair bit higher but is a deal I'd still prefer based on what I've seen and the data available
Lies, damn lies, and statistics! What about all the chances that he created that weren’t finished? I’m sure I read somewhere that those figures were huge. So in reality his figures could’ve/shoud’ve been higher.

I hope the Douglas Luiz and Hayden Hackney links are real, because it means we're trying to get a passing CM who can actually move the ball around the pitch and pull the strings. Genuinely when was the last time we had one of those? Anyone?

Gareth Barry was the last one. People liked to pretend Gomes was one, he tried to be one, but he utterly failed at it.

If this is the case why are the likes of Branthwaite signing 5 year deals, instead of going for big money and to play CL football?

And why has Barry forgone CL football to sign for us?

People need get out their head that a players won't sign for you unless you're in Europe.
Yeah the Barry one should open people's eyes a bit to the realities of these things. Generally speaking (there are obviously exceptions because everybody is different) playing in the PL is a much bigger draw than playing in the Europa League, and even bigger than playing in the CL for a team that isn't going to win it. Going to one of the English teams who have Europe is a bigger draw, as is going to one of the proper big hitters in Europe, but the reality is most players would choose Burnley even over someone like Ajax because the PL is where players want to be.

That, and we were the only ones who put a bid in for him.
Nobody else saw any value in his release clause.

Yeah if they come to the PL and do well even at a relatively minor team then it opens the door for a big move.

Looking at Barry’s career path to date it wouldn’t surprise me if he comes here for a season or two with the aim being to develop and then take the next step to a major team - assuming he improves. Of course it will be up to Everton to match these sorts of players ambitions if we want to keep them.
