Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We have got to get a RB its been 5-6 years we’ve need that sorting! O’brien isn’t a RB, coleman is a coach now essentially, dixons on loan and patterson well less said about him the better

He wasnt a world beater but when we signrd a non household name in Matty Jsckson nobody thought too much about it at the time. He ended up being pretty influential that season n 94/95 and I still remember how mental we went in the away end at Ashton Gste when he fired in the winner on our winning FA Cup run. They don't need to be a big name, just someone capable of reasonable defending but can also support the attacks and assists too if that's not too greedy an ask. One that is also not likely to be in the treatment room too much through the season.

Why did Royle replace him with Barrett?

Agreed

I'm pretty happy with how it looks though, both separate entity's, i wouldn't want either club using the other as a feeder or a player farm though.

Both ourselves and Roma are massive institutions (Roma are probably the better known worldwide to ourselves, being the main team from the capital, but we probably have a bigger opportunity for profit as we are a PL club)

Won't speak for the rest of the world, but in the States Everton are FAR better known than Roma, owing largely to the fact that the PL gets far more coverage than every other competition.

Roma are a huge club, for me, any football fan should be aware of both teams, as you say, The PL reach is huge, but most from the UK grew up with Serie A as the only real footy on Tele, so Romas name rings out, but like you, I can only speak as an English football fan.

I'd have to look back through the archives as I don't remember Matt doing anything wrong for us you know Zat

Jackson was a hole heart player but he was pretty average. Barrett was a good defender but very poor on the ball.

What I remember was Matt was quite good all round. Nothing spectacular, just a good all round right back.

Barrett used to be the focus of swearing to such an extent that as soon as the ball came close to him you knew the yelling would commence.

He would boot the ball into touch for no apparent reason. Dreadful.

….i’m sure it was Ryan Giggs who said Earl Barrett was his most difficult opponent. Matt Jackson was a good footballer but was slow, indeed I think he was a CB for much of his later career.

I doubt we’ll be signing either in this window :dodgy:
