League of Ireland 2025

Only kinda LOI related.
wonder what will happen to Palace now Lyon are back in League 1
They've set a precedent with the Drogs, will they cave to a far bigger club.
Interesting! 🤔

Drogs should watch this very closely.

Meanwhile Shels 1-0 against Linfield with about 20' to go.

Might need another to bring to Belfast.

Linfield were absolute muck. 1-0 a poor score for Shels but if they can’t beat that team up there on a bigger pitch then they deserve what they get

UEFA have had enough time to call it out that he doesn’t have sufficient influence at Palace. Tried to rely on French league to bail them out. Now it has to be Palace out as they didn’t meet March deadline…… as much as the deal Forest / olym did was a sham and only on paper

This is likely to happen and the announcement is expected today. Palace will appeal to CAS. Textor's minimal influence/control at Palace and ownership of Lyon was quite different to the MCO situation at Drogheda. Very harsh on Drogheda though. UEFA's rules and their implementation in this area are a mess.

not having a go, just more curious (as a drogs fan)
How is it different? Is Texter not the largest shareholder?
Is it the fact that he owns 45% of the club and not all or over 50%?
Is the argument that he had little influence in a club that he's the largest shareholder of?
I don't see a huge difference in what happened with Trivella what's happening with Eagle holdings.
Both own multiple clubs and both missed the March deadline.
The only difference I see is that CP are in a different universe size wise to DUFC and will have way more sway at CAS

Fair questions fella. Palace are not in an MCO, ( not sure whether Drogs are) but I believe that the level of holding that the Drogheda owner has in each club was something like 70-80%. That’s a higher amount than Textor had in Palace + Textor’s other clubs are in an MCO.
Textor’s investment was something like 40% but he held only 25% of the voting rights and Executive Chairman Steve Parish ran the club on a day to day basis and always had the casting vote in the event of a tie. Palace did miss the March deadline but as Textor was trying to buy Palace / sell his investment he couldn’t/wouldn’t put them in a blind trust. Palace’s argument is that Textor did not have “control or significant influence” given the Board voting structure so, a blind trust would have only been a ruse by which clubs can circumnavigate UEFA’s own rules, courtesy of UEFA.
We are both victims of the implementation of UEFA’s threadbare rules but (imo) Palace have a chance of being admitted (probably by appeal) because Textor’s “control and influence” was in reality, next to nothing.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it.
Drogs had a ton of reasons to appeal and bring it to CAS. Although they were different, they seemed fairly reasonable.
Basically stuff like date being switched from June, poor communications with a then part time club, similar day to day running arguments but on a much smaller scale, and more. We kinda pleaded incompetence, and for a primarily voluntary run club to fall fowl of UEFA bureaucracy with such dire consequences, seems just cruel.
Basically, UEFA - you should have done our stupid blind trust work around, you didnt, you're out, lalalala dont want to hear it, you're out'.

Also, the Danish side qualified by finishing higher in their league than us, 7th v 9th.
Doesnt matter that we won the cup and they won nothing,

Stinks. I think their previous work rounds / nodding through the Man City’s etc have come home to roost. They were slow to realise the possible impacts of MCO’s and even slower to act. They need a much clearer set of transparently clear rules published to all European clubs in good time for next season.

Ultimately this blind trust stuff is a sham. Like there’s no way the big Greek crook wasn’t gonna be calling the shots at forest and olympiacos in blind trust scenario
