Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

That's the fella. My God, my memory is on the way out. Mind you, I am also struggling to recount any singular act of brilliance the aforementioned milk curdler pulled off in the Everton shirt, so perhaps it's just natural brain dumping of useless detritus...
Didn’t he score an equaliser at Goodison against Spurts at the Park End,if it wasn’t him it was errr someone else.

Though less likely, I'm hoping we might be able to get a couple of loans done too by kickoff.

If we are to get 8 players, then a mix of something like 4 permanent / 4 loans seems plausible enough.

I'd like us to get our main business done first but even so there is the likely prospect that we will be in the market for quite a few more on loan right up to the deadline. Then there is always the risk of things falling though last minute and leaving us thin still.

It's important we get it right as far as loans are concerned too with the amount of work that needs doing. They will simply have to make some impact and not be like Broja and Lindstrom.

Am I correct in my counting that with Barry, we now have 18 first team squad players? So we need to buy another 3-4 and get in 3-4 loans still?
Suppose one is a keeper that will play 4 times, another is a keeper that will never ever play. They should be ticked off cheaply. The rest should be doable with a couple of frees and a few loans.

Getting the numbers is no problem when you can drag a couple in on deadline day. It’s the quality that’s the risk. Don’t want any more squad fillers that end up playing 30+ games. Or players we buy for a certain position he has played twice and “done a job” but has played 300 times on the opposite wing.

The whole squad needs more players that you’d class as starting 11 level. For years we’ve not really even had 11 of those. No depth and no options. Going to need a couple of clever deals out of nowhere.

O'Brien started enough games there last season. Done enough to probe he's more than capable. Quick, powerful and gets a goal or two. Put a credible RM in front of him and he's a more than steady pair of hands. Think Moyes probably agrees.

Obviously not seeing as we tried to sign Tete. Think you are in a very very small minority here. JOB is ok at full back but he’s a central defender and we’ll need him there.

Late to the thread: Is "Man Bun" a euphemism for DCL or Jack Harrison? They all look the same to me at this point. Play the same too, mind...
The only exception was Zlatan albeit in the twilight of his career. That Jay Rodriguez did my nut in when he did it too and Bale looked a complete twerp with his bun at the time.

Played more games at RB for us. And you can change positions. Bale was a left back initially. Just a position not an identity.
Played more games at RB for us…because we don’t have a proper starting RB

He can’t cross the ball, which is an essential skill for modern full backs. If we want him to cover a game a two due to injury or formation, sound.

But if we go into the season with Jake O’Brien as our right back prospect for the season, we have failed.

Mangala was an unfortunate one to lose when he was playing well and contributing. You are right though. Broja & Lindstrom although I had hope for Lindstrom basically wasted 2 loan spots. That could contribute to the difference in league placings thos coming season by not having the squad depth to make a difference.. 1st choice players are priority 1 but the supporting cast of loans needs to be a couple of tiers up this time around. Ruling out Man Bun Utd for starters.
