It is weird that we are signing a 22 year old on big money and not giving them the full five years.

It helps us spread the losses over a long period meaning we could spend slightly more now.

We get less leverage to negotiate from if he is good and demanding a raise or attracting interest.

Alcaraz was really strange but this one is also a little strange.
