Wimbledon

The auto line judge call the other day 'cos one of the ball boys scratched his nose was good.

Swiatek here seems to be breezing through against Samsonova. Such an easy time in the quarters could see Swiatek through without the punishment others have to toil through.

Alcaraz's dominance is emerging.

But Fritz has the game on grass to hand Alcaraz his first real test at this Wimbledon.

If he gets past Fritz he's likely to face Djokovic rather than Sinner who has that elbow injury to contend with. Djokovic has a 5-3 head to head record over Alcaraz (and won 3 of their last 4 matches). Yes, Alcaraz beat Djokovic in the final last year but Novak was carrying a tear in his knee all the way through that Wimbledon and only got edged out by Alcaraz.

Age is obviously in the Spaniard's favour but I can see one last GS title looming here for Djokovic. If he gets past Sinner (who's handed him more problems than Alcaraz in the past) I'd back him to win again.
No doubt Joker is still Joker. I'd never bet against him. Just like if Nadal came back from the dead at Roland Garros next year I'd never bet against him

Fritz, as much as like him and allow he's the best American post-Agassi, is not at the level of the Top 2 + Joker. He's definitely in that mix just below these 3.

But the major difference between these 3 and everyone else is mental. I doubt Fritz can get over that hump in a major match against any one of these 3. Here's to hoping he can find a way

Fair comment on Fritz.

But if Fritz wanted to choose a surface to face Alcaraz on it'd be grass. I think because the Spaniard has been playing bums so far, he might find the step up to Fritz a stern test.

Shelton hit a 144mph second serve earlier. I remember 20 years ago around the time of Rusedski when the record was 125mph and they were talking up fuzzier tennis balls to slow the game and make it more spectacle.
