Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I respectfully disagree, it takes Everton longer than any other club to complete deals, it always has.... Forest accepted a bid from Newcastle for Elanga, let`s see how long it takes to complete. IMO they will complete that before we complete Barry despite us agreeing a fee days ago.

They’ve been after elanga for ages though.

It’s taken them longer to sort that transfer than it has us for Barry.

They’ve overpaid for elanga. We’ve got a player for less than his release clause.

One of the most underrated players in the league IMO - if he was called Jean M'Ginn, people would probably think differently.

He's a little nark and has loads of quality but, he's 31 this year and unless you were talking absolute buttons (which we clearly wouldn't) then I wouldn't be bothering.
Yeah I don’t see how a deal could be done but anyone dismissing him as a player is off their head. The amount of big name, big money players Villa have brought in over recent years and the one guy Unai Emery always finds a space for in the team is McGinn. But what does Emery know about football eh?

At the same time, I just struggle to see why Villa would sell their captain for anything like an amount of money we should think about paying.

was quite calm during june and felt like we were restricted by the financial windows but we do need to get a move on

do we even have a goalkeeper at this Scotland camp or is it just a couple of the u21s?

Jack Harrison has caused more grown men to cry than a gambling addiction, relax if he's set to be a starter that would be very disconcerting but only seems to be considered as a squad player if we recruit him. Once again we have massive gaps to fill and Moyes will want people he feels comfortable with for fringe players
Wouldn`t even entertain Harrison, even for squad players you need some sort of output, this guy has virtually nothing... £90k a week we`ve been paying him for 2 seasons, already cost us close to £10m.

Only accepted the bid yesterday, they’d been negotiating for about a week, or at least the interest was known from about a week ago.

Yes we agreed a fee a few days ago, but the lads been on holiday. He’s now on his way to finalise it all. Not the club’s fault he was on international duty for the early part of the summer. He was then entitled to a break.

And so what if they do complete it before we sign Barry? Will Elanga signing for Newcastle affect how Barry plays for us? I’d also wager that Newcastle are only working on a handful of deals and can move through them quicker. We’ve probably got 10 players spinning at the same time whilst trying to keep them all in motion.

If we’ve signed 2 players by the time the season starts, then I’ll piss the bed. Until then, just the let processes behind the scenes take place.

Our 1st friendly is next Tuesday, we`ve brought in Alcaraz who we had already last season and has a buy agreement anyway. Our 2nd friendly is a week Saturday...

Everton need to pick up the pace here although I`m not sure we get any more than 1 or 2 more in, excluding Barry, before we kick off against West Ham in the US, that leaves us on the back foot with integrating the new players in to the squad and tactical set up.

All too predictable really...
We're on the verge of signing a major striker target and you feel this is typical Everton? Yes id like more signings in at this point but obviously things are in the works going from reports, it feels quite different from previous seasons but maybe that's just me. Also transfers don't just materialize, various tournaments were in play and vacations for players should be factored in as well

I understand that perspective but he's a Moyes type player and although he was frustrating especially on set pieces he seemed to improve when Moyes took over like you, id rather someone else but unfortunately that's not under our control I'm not going to stress about every detail and just focus on the major signings

I won't 'relax' We're about to sign the worst regular starter I've seen play for Everton in the PL, and we're thinking about signing him PERMANTLY.

By the way, anyone defending the signing has no right to complain when he inevitably puts in 4 or 5 out of 10 performances whenever he plays, Like he has for the vast majority of the last two seasons.

Has it happened?
