Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all , a busy day ahead for us as we have my daughter and 6 year old granddaughter staying with us. As my daughter is apparently working from home ( ours) our task is to entertain Eilidh for the day , wonderful , so a visit to Portsoy for duck feeding and then the wonderful Cullen beach is on the plan 🙂
Have a lovely day with her.

If you're stuck for something to do this evening mate the girls performance at Eurockeennes is being streamed live by ARTE TV on their ARTE Concert YouTube channel at 7pm. The sound quality on ARTE's music videos are generally top notch.
I was at the cinema last night but will catch up with it on YouTube while working today. How was it?

Yeah the whole gig is on YouTube now mate. The crowd was a bit meh and you could tell they didn't really know their music. But the audio quality and camerawork are both excellent and the performance was possibly the best I've seen. They've really learnt how to own a big stage. It's amazing how much they've come on in the 2 years I've been listening to them.

Just watching the full Gary Numan set from Glasto now. I've a lot to watch up on but I've enjoyed everything I've watched so far. My favourite has been a band called Fat Dog. They're one of the alternative bands emerging from the Windmill scene in London. The lead singer is like Jarvis Cocker on speed. So much charisma.

Just finished watched TLDP. Great show with Abigail really growing into herself as the front lady. Nice location but flat crowd.

Fat Dog have been regulars on mainstream radio since Running. Peace Song is their real breakthrough. Their Glasto set was one of my highlights.

I enjoyed their album Woof when it came out last year but not listened to it since for some reason. First time I've seen them live though and loved it. For me a festival is as much about the performance and crowd engagement as it is the music. I watched Beth Gibbons and BCNR over the weekend, both of whom I love, but wasn't blown away by their sets.

BCNR didn’t do it for me at all.

Just booked a table at the Shipwright Arms over the river in Helford village for Sunday night as a thank you for my ex neighbours (they moved out into their new house whilst I was away) for numerous airport runs they've done for me recently. Rob's just picked up a new boat today (sounds more like a dinghy ) and I think he wants to show it off to me. Plus the pub has just re-opened having been taken over by a certain Rufus Tiger Taylor, son of my neighbour Roger Taylor and drummer with the Darkness rock band. So may bump into a celebrity or two. You never know.:)

Generally or did you watch their set too?

I guess some music I can listen to for hours if I'm in the mood but don't do it for me live. And others ( eg Amyl and the sniffers) get a bit tedious after a while but live are a different animal.

When I'm at a gig I need a bit of oomph and visual stimulus. BCNR literally just stand (or sit) there and play.

Not overly keen on BCNR in general but live they really didn’t grab me at all. For the scale of Glastonbury you need more than just playing as you say.

Turmoil today for us as the local "tea " shop had no tea bags but they did have loose tea, both PG Tips .Sp I did the deadly deed and bought a massive bag of loose teat only to find that the loose tea I remember is a thing of the past and what I had bought is some curled and chopped leaf stuff .Undetered I had found a proper pot and a sieve and made a cuppa .
It was fine for me as I take a level spoon of sugar but the wife didn't like it at all as it was too bitter ,so it is destined for the bin as I cannot be harassed making two different teas .

My apologies if I haven’t kept up , but wasn’t there a time you were considering moving alongside Rob in their new home ,was it centre of Truro?

You are correct BL, but it wouldn't have been until next year as they are planning building work for which they haven't even instructed an architect as yet.

But as it happens, my planned move will not now be going ahead as they've realised that the main house will not be big enough for their needs. So they will need the apartment themselves.

TBH I wasn't too disappointed when they relayed this to me as Rob can be hard work at times and I'd been having some misgivings about living in such close proximity. But at least it's made me focus on moving in the new year as this place is much too big, not to mention costly for me. Plus I need the independence that comes with living in a town.

I wouldn’t even know where to buy loose tea now if I ever wanted to try it. It seems a bit unnecessary in this everything for convenience world.
