Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Turns out he's been robbed in France twice:

Instagram is full of nuggets of info.

Better tell them the Crocky Crew are from some far off land and Carlo wasn't living in the Merseyside area whilst manager. Joking aside that kind of experience can change lives, especially if it's not your home country. Furthermore, in the Premier League and the NW in general there is a network of South American players here already to help them settle if they came over to England. Over to the player and his family to decide.

Just something on Douglas Luiz

At villa he was playing in a similar fashion to how it seems Moyes wants us playing.

High energy, high tempo football on the counter.

Just as with Alcaraz who thrives on this style of play and is lethal on the transition, so is Luiz.

While Alcaraz didnt suit Southamptons manager nor Flamengo's, Luiz didnt suit Juventus' slower build up play.

With Juventus as well, they did 'pay' £42.3mil but offloaded Iling Junior and Barranechea to Villa.

They may be willing to lower the fee having shifted those two. But on top of that hes also 'flopped' there and he and his mrs have broken up and the fans havent taken to him.

This £15mil fee seems too low but perhaps £20-25mil may get a deal over the line. Its a no brainer.

I imagine there’s a network of South American players in Spain to be fair

I definitely didn’t imply it was a masterful strategy, I just said the three of those high wage players leaving is a good thing alongside Alcaraz signing and Branthwaite signing an extension which a lot of people have agreed with.

Deadwood is not the right term, I can agree with that, I’d say they were overpaid average players who we’d have kept on at much lower wages which they chose not to accept. My point was that previously we’ve chosen to give these average players mega contracts and I’m glad we haven’t again.
Agreed. I'd be glad for a couple less renewals, to be honest. We'll have to see what happens in the next few weeks before making any firm decisions on how this window has gone. Currently, we don't have a single new player in the squad and have lost a number of players who, for good or for ill, played a lot of first team football last season, so there's still a lot of work to do. Our first game of the season is in six weeks, so I'm not getting too excited by our new ownership until I see how we shape up then. Re-signing Branthwaite is the highlight of the summer so far, obviously, but we are so weak in so many positions that we need to get on with things.
