Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The 3 teams you mentioned above mate have done absolutely nothing of note.

People seems to hold these teams in some strange regard...they live to exist mid-table buying and selling players on at profit, nothing more.

I think you can quantum leap up the table by being aggressive in the transfer market and signing better players than you already have...IE Newcastle and Forest.

Luiz at 27 would be an excellent buy, these are the transfers that will improve Everton.

This been said it probably won't even happen,so we've all wasted an taking about it
Yeah almost certainly won’t happen.

Interesting if you look at Forest best players they’ve followed a similar strategy after that initial Supermarket Sweep. Elanga, Elliott, Danilo, Hudson Odio, Gibbs White were all 24 and under when bought

Newcastle have done the same after their initial Splurge to get out of relegation trouble - Botman, Isak, Gordon, Livremento, Tonali, etc

Physicality comparisons between 23 and 27 for example are irrelevant as is the financial aspect as long as they perform.

My concern (and each case is different so my concerns may be misplaced) would be attitude and ambition. Going from Juve to us is a step down and we have experience of this when buying from so called bigger clubs. I’d rather buy someone who has the majority of their career in front of them so they see us a step up (even if all they see is is a stepping stone to further up the food chain which in turn would bring financial benefits if they perform)

Why don’t Juventus / Juventus fans like Douglas Luiz? Why hasn’t it worked out?

He essentially called out their medical team on his socials:

1751788842283.webp
off

And one of his team-matss (Gatti) told him to stop taking corners off Koopmeiners.

Lots of Italian prima-donna behaviour.

You're right, of course, but if he had 3 good years here we'd be left with a player with not much of a sell-on value. That's always a consideration. That being said, as long as the rest of your trading is younger players who you can make profit on, you can afford the odd more experienced player who won't ever make you money back.

Having quality experienced players at the peak of their powers raises the quality of the players around them and the performances of the team in general. Let’s say he gets us into Europe - addition prize money, plus experience for our younger players which in turn increases their values.

Every transfer needs to be judged on its individual merits - too many people obsessed with age and sell-on value

I can possibly see you're point with Newcastle, but i think with Forest they will just look for better than what they've currently got.

I do think though we shouldn't get so hung up on age,but see why Blues do because we got our fingers burnt in the Moshiri era buying players 27+.

I'd like to think we've got people at club now who wont be such deals that are detrimental to the balance sheet.
